Reducing air pollution
As is known to us all, air pollution is becoming more and more serious. This phenomenon caused our attention.
To deal with the problem, the government took some effective measures. Firstly, they carried out strict regulations, making some factories closed down or moved out of the city center. Secondly, cars and buses using new clean energy were produced, which reduced the carbon dioxide emission. Also, a lot of trees were planted on hills, fields and so on. Most importantly, the government's measures called on people to be involved in reducing the source of air pollution.
If every citizen makes efforts to protect our environment, the day will come when people will take in clean air.

This story is about the 1914-1916 expedition by Earnest Shackleton to make the first land crossing of Antarctica.
Ernest Shackleton and his crew went aboard the ship named Endurance. As they approached Antarctica, unfortunately, their ship got stuck in the ice, sinking into the sea. Having abandoned the ship, they escaped to Elephant Island. Shackleton left them to find help, and the crew had to struggle to survive in the extreme weather and cold. The dangerous environment and limited supplies added to the mental challenge, so they had to maintain a positive state of mind. They had faith in Shackleton because they knew he would not abandon them.
I was deeply moved by the concern and love between them and I'm also inspired by their endurance and perseverance in face of difficulties. In a word, I have learned an important lesson from the inspiring story. That is, whatever difficulties we meet, face them positively and never give up.

Dear Peter, I'm glad to receive your letter in which you asked me about a Tang poem—Sympathy for Farmers. The poem, made up of 4 lines, is quite popular with folk literary readers. When I read the poem aloud I can hear that the last word from the second and the fourth sentences rhyme — “tu” and “ku”. These rhyming words sound nice and make the poem pleasing to read.
The poem presents a vivid picture in which I can see different images. Hot as it is outside at noon in summer, the farmers are still working in the fields, wet all over with their sweat falling into the soil where the crops grow. However, who knows all the delicious dishes on our tables come from the hard work of farmers
In my view, the poet is giving us advice. He wants us to appreciate the farmers' hard work and treasure every grain. Meanwhile, it is also of great importance for us to value the beautiful life at present.
