Brief Introduction to Beijing City
Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China, is the nation’s political, cultural and transport center. It covers an area of 16 410 square kilometers with a population of about 19.61 million in 2010. It lies at an altitude averaging 43 meters above sea level. Beijing has a continental climate of temperate zone. Beijing was the capital of the Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Peking Man lived at Zhoukoudian 48 kilometers southwest of Beijing roughly 500 000 years ago. Many famous tourist resources attract millions of domestic and overseas tourists all the year round.
