Are you troubled by housework, such as cleaning tables or tidying your room A new robot is here to help! In January, short videos of a robot called Mobile Aloha cooking at someone's home caught lots of attention online.
In the videos, we can see the robot preparing dishes on its own, from cutting vegetables to cooking eggs. It's also good at watering plants, petting cats, cleaning the floor and washing clothes. Linda, a 40-year-old housewife joked, "As long as this thing doesn't try to kill me while I am asleep, I am in real need of it.
Well, another video may disappoint her. Mobile Aloha carelessly broke glasses and plates, knocked into things and even burned a dish. In fact, Mobile Aloha isn't good at doing housework on its own. Instead, it learns from human actions before doing each kind of housework. When the situation changes, it can't work well without a human “teaching” it. The robot can successfully move chairs 80 percent of the time. For cooking dishes, it's only 40 percent. In short, it's far from perfect. AI robots are good at tasks such as math and playing chess, but they perform worse than a one-year-old child when it comes to simple tasks like cleaning. And it's the same for Mobile Aloha. For example, if its body doesn't move correctly -even just with a small deviation, its arm may move too far to pick up a glass.

Every year about 80 billion plastic bottles are produced and 80 percent of those end up in oceans and landfills. These plastic bottles take about 800 years to break down (分解) . As people are caring more about the environment, many large companies around the world are working to develop paper bottles. They are trying to make paper bottles to replace glass and plastic ones.
Paper bottles have many advantages. Perhaps the most important one is that they are easy to recycle. Paper bottles also weigh less than glass or plastic. That means it’s easier to move them around. What’s more, because they are soft, they can take almost any shape.
Clearly, however, one of the biggest challenges is keeping water from leaking. A Danish company hopes to use a special plastic liner (内衬) that will break down naturally over time. Another company plans to use a non-plastic coating(涂层) inside the bottle.
But even without plastic, paper bottles may not be perfect. Most paper bottles use wood pulp (木浆). That means we will cut down thousands of tees. That could lead to the loss of forests. To solve the problem, a company from the UK has created bottles made of recycled paper, so we don’t need to cut down more trees.
Companies also need to see how long the water can stay in the bottles, and make sure the bottles don’t change the taste of the water.
There is still a long way before paper bottles can be ready to go, but with so many companies working on them, we can expect to see paper bottles in the near future.
