教材分析:
本课时的主题是“choose a club”选择一个社团,以听说课的形式呈现。听前活动通过看图匹配和问题讨论,使学生初步掌握 ballet, volunteer, debate等词义,为接下来的听力做好语言和认知上的准备。听力文本主要涉及两段对话,谈论学校社团的选择。学生需要采取听力策略提取文本信息,进行概括和推理。对话重点呈现了表达喜好的语言结构,如“I enjoy...” “I’m interested in...”等。
教学策略与设计说明:
采用任务型教学法(Task-based language teaching),布置活动任务,设置活动目的,引导学生完成相关任务,达成各教学步骤设计目的。
教学目标:
在本课学习结束时,学生能够:
语言能力上,识别和运用社团相关词汇,如ballet, volunteer, debate,club等。正确运用相关句型表达自己的喜好,如I like... better than..., I prefer...等,以此选择合适自己的社团。掌握单元音和双元音发音技巧与其常见字母组合。
思维品质上,对听力内容进行概括和推理;帮助他人从喜好方面选择合适的学校社团并提出建议。
文化意识上,了解青少年的课外活动以及常见的学校社团,初步形成对高中生活的认知。
学习能力上,形成听前预测意识,通过个人经历、题干和选项预测听力内容,抓住需要预测的对话主题和答案关键词,进而获取细节信息。
教学重点:
学生能够准确理解听力文本内容,掌握听前预测技能;
学生能结合自己的喜好进行社团选择。
教学难点:
学生根据听力内容进行概括和推理;
学生根据表达喜好的句型结构,在互动中帮助同伴选择合适的社团。

Step 1 Warm-up for unit (Activity 1): Ss appreciate the sentence “Good habits formed at youth make all the difference” and think about the meaning of it. T gives Chinese meaning “青年时期养成的良好习惯使人终身收益。” and introduce the author Aristotle briefly. 学习主题相关名言,了解名言背景知识,拓宽视野,导入主题。 2’ CW
Step 2 Warm-up for unit (Activity 2): Ss look at the picture and discuss the following questions: What are the teenagers doing in the photo What do you do to relax outside of school What kind of life do you live What kind of life do you wish to live? Suggested answers: Flying a kite. Play basketball, watch movies...(T can give some examples about herself/himself firstly, such as “reading, shopping...”.) Stressful, meaningful...; Happy, comfortable, free... 观察图片,创设情境,引出主题,激活学生已有知识与经验。 3’ GW/IW
Step 3 Lead-in: Ss watch a video and think about how they can break into the social scene at school. T explains “break into the social scene” in Chinese “融入社交圈”. Suggested answers: Through school’s clubs and societies. (T can also elicit some school clubs Ss have known, such as “book club, English club, basketball club...”) 观看视频,提高学习兴趣,引入课时主题。 3’ CW
Step 4 Matching: 1. Ss look at the four photos in the book and match photos with the names of the clubs (ballet, nature, volunteer, and debate club). 2. Ss think about what activities students do in these clubs. Suggested answers: Ballet club: dancing, learning new movements. Nature club: growing plants, protecting animals. Volunteer club: helping others, visiting old people. Debate club: discussing different questions, exchanging ideas. 利用图片匹配加深学生对社团词汇的认知;抛出问题,激活学生关于社团的背景知识,提前为下面听对话作好铺垫。 4’ IW
Step 5 Listen and choose: T leads Ss to look through the predicting strategies show how to predict content according to questions and choices (老师可带着学生浏览答案提示词,如“hearing, sounds, dogs,...”思考其有关的内容). Ss listen to the first two conversations and choose the correct answers (T gives the script of the second conversation (Team A, please begin. ... We don't agree with Team A. ...) and help Ss infer the club where the conversation 2 happened (debate club).). 引导学生在听前采用预测策略,提前浏览问题和选项,为正式听做好准备。 3’ IW
Step 6 Listen and tick: 1. Ss look through the verb phrases in the table and find out the key words, such as movements, programmes, clothes... 2. Ss listen to the third conversation and tick the activities that happen in each club (Ss listen to the key words). 引导学生根据选项预测听力内容;学生听细节信息。 3’ IW
Step 7 Choose and fill: Ss listen to the conversation 3 and choose a suitable club for Adam. Suggested answers: I think Adam should join the volunteer club because he says that he would like to do something outdoors. 根据听力内容归纳,推断信息,激发学生的批判思维。 3’ IW
Step 8 Think and answer: Ss think about and answer the following questions: What can dogs hear that most older people can't hear What does Team A think about teenager's dating Suggested answers: Very high frequency sounds. Teenagers shouldn't date. The reason is that they are too young and they should think about schoolwork and spend more time studying. 内容进一步延伸,及时强化学生的口语表达。 4’ CW
Step 9 Key words: T leads Ss to learn the new words such as ballet, volunteer, debate, movement, greenhouse and suitable by presenting the pictures, collocations and example sentences (e.g. a ballet dancer; She wants to be a ballet dancer; a heated debate; The class will hold a debate on the environment this week; eye/hand movement; greenhouse effect; suitable for...). Ss listen carefully and take notes (Ss could be asked to make out their own sentences based on the key words.). 利用图片,激发学生学习的兴趣,提供语境巩固词汇。 4’ CW
Step 10 Pair work: Ss look at the picture in the book and answer the questions: Where are they What does the girl in the middle have in her hand Guess what they are doing. Suggested answers: On a stage. A script. Talking about acting. Ss read the conversation aloud and underline the expressions speakers use to express their preference (e.g. Do you like dancing better than acting ... I like acting better, ...). T elicits the expressions “like A better than B” and “prefer A to B” (比起B更喜欢A. ) and adds other expressions “I’m into, I’m fond of, I know sth from A to Z” T teach words “prefer, actually”. “prefer to do 更喜欢做某事,prefer doing 喜欢做某事,actual 真实的,实际的” Ss work in pairs and create their own conversations to help each other choose a club. T gives some cues for Ss: A: Asking B if he/she joins a club. B: Express your questions. A: Asking B's interests. B: Express your preference. A: Giving your suggestions. Step 11 Pronunciation: Ss listen and repeat the words and notice the pronunciation of the letters in bold. T chooses some phonetic alphabets Ss may feel difficult and plays short videos from which Ss can learn pronunciation skills. “/ :/: al, or, ore; /i:/: ee, ea; /з:/: er, ir, or, ur, ear.”. T asks Ss to add more words with similar sounds. Suggested answers: al: talk, wall, walk, all or: horse, absorb, north ore: more, bored, core, store ee: tree, keen, feet, sheep ea: clean, eager, please, cheap, peach er: her, prefer ir: bird, circus, stir or: word, work. doctor ur: burn, hurt, nurse ear: earn, heard, learn Ss listen to the proverbs and repeat, and notice the pronunciation of the letters in bold. Ss read aloud the conversation below and notice the pronunciation of the letters in bold: “An English Club is a place for language learners to use English in a casual setting. Starting an English Club is a great way to make new lasting friendships....” 通过听和模仿,复习al, ee, ear等字母组合的发音,利用发音规律准确辨音,有效记忆单词;结合语义训练发音,进一步巩固所学的语音知识。 5’ CW/IW
Step 12 Homework: Despite your interests, think about other factors you should consider before choosing a club. 思考选择社团的其他影响因素,发散学生思维。 1’ CW
