文章为了表达准确严密,经常通过加上相应的词语限制如涉及数量时常用many,almost all,nearly, more than, over, only afew,normally等限制。
1】 We have house rules to make LearnEnglish a fun and safe place to improve your English, so please make sure you follow these rules.
The age requirement
We welcome learners from around the world who are at least 18 years old. If you are 12 or younger, please use LearnEnglish Kids; if you are 13—17, please use LearnEnglish teens.
Who is the LearnEnglish website mainly intended for
A.English teachers. B.Adult learners.
C.Children under 12. D.Students aged between 13 and 17.
根据文章The age requirement部分内容“We welcome learners from around the world who are at least 18 years old.(我们欢迎来自世界各地的至少18岁的学习者。)”
2】 Animal studies have demonstrated the strong impact of a male mammal’s nutritional history on its offspring (后代). For instance, male rats that experience starvation before mating produce offspring with altered blood sugar levels and changes in hormones like corticosterone (which helps fight stress) and insulin-like growth factor (which aids in baby development).
...
Increasingly, biology reveals that a person’s health and well-being significantly impact the health and happiness of their future children. It is not solely because a tough man is more likely to be a great father or due to his genetic makeup. Regardless of a person’s inherited characteristics, the lifestyle choices they make throughout their life, even before considering parenthood, will have a lasting impact on their children’s physical and mental well-being.
What can be learned from the passage
A.A strong male is likely to leave more offspring behind.
B.The lifestyle a male has chosen affects not only himself but also his children.
C.A healthy male usually gets the best genes to pass along to his future generations.
D.It is unlikely that a happy male will develop anxiety and depression.
根据最后一段最后一句“Regardless of a person’s inherited characteristics, the lifestyle choices they make throughout their life, even before considering parenthood, will have a lasting impact on their children’s physical and mental well-being.(不管一个人的遗传特征如何,他们一生中所做的生活方式选择,甚至在考虑成为父母之前,都会对他们孩子的身心健康产生持久的影响。)”
3】We have house rules to make LearnEnglish a fun and safe place to improve your English, so please make sure you follow these rules.
The age requirement
We welcome learners from around the world who are at least 18 years old. If you are 12 or younger, please use LearnEnglish Kids; if you are 13—17, please use LearnEnglish teens.
...
What is the purpose of these rules
A.To create a good English-learning environment.
B.To encourage everyone to learn English.
C.Keep in line with Internet laws.
D.To respect users of the website.
【答案】A
根据文章第一段内容“We have house rules to make LearnEnglish a fun and safe place to improve your English, so please make sure you follow these rules.(我们有一些规则,让学习英语成为一个有趣又安全的地方来提高你的英语,所以请确保你遵守这些规则。)” 故选A项。
4】 Explore Central Park, one of the largest city parks in the world and one of the most famous symbols of New York. Let’s have a look at its main sights.
Central Park is New York’s largest city park and one of the biggest in the world, with an area of 843 acres (about 3.4km2). This park is home to man-made lakes, waterfalls, grass and wooded areas. You will also find the Central Park Zoo, among other attractions in this greenspace of New York.
What can we learn about the Central Park from the text
A.It is home to lakes and waterfalls.
B.It is perfect for doing outdoor sports.
C.It is the largest city park in the world.
D.It is the most famous symbol of New York.
根据第三段第二句话“It is perfect for sunbathing, going for walks, or doing any outdoor sports.
Brian is a very silly, funny student. What he loves most is to make people laugh. All his friends love his jokes, and even the teachers think he is very funny. Brian knows that comedy is what he likes best.
When he hears about the school’s talent show, he decides to sign up so that he can share his comedy from the stage. He has never done real stand-up comedy before, and he is very excited. But when some of the students find out he will participate, they laugh at him. Brian thinks it does not feel very good when someone laughs at you in a mean way!
Brian cannot understand why they are being so unkind to him. For a moment, he thinks about telling the talent show organizers he will not participate. But then he remembers how much his friends and teachers like his jokes. He does not know why these other students are being so negative, but he decides to go ahead and prepare his comedy routine for the talent show.
Brian decides to do a great job at the talent show to prove to the mean students that they are wrong. Everyone loves his routine, and he wins first prize! Even so, the same students tell Brian he is dumb and that he will never be a successful comedian. Brian just shakes his head and wonders what their problem is. He does not understand, but he realizes that it has nothing to do with him. He happily continues to work towards his goal.
As the years go on, Brian meets more people like that. Luckily, they are the minority, and as he works hard to become a comedian, most of the people he meets encourage him and help him to become even funnier. He gets more and more opportunities to perform, and he is even invited to appear on television and act in movies.

根据第四段最后三句“Brian just shakes his head and wonders what their problem is. He does not understand, but he realizes that it has nothing to do with him. He happily continues to work towards his goal.”(布莱恩只是摇了摇头,想知道他们的问题是什么。
根据第四段最后三句“Brian just shakes his head and wonders what their problem is. He does not understand, but he realizes that it has nothing to do with him. (三)
I used to be the most determined resolution-maker. Even as a child, I was always goal-centered and loved the feeling of accomplishing things, and every January 1st, I would sit down and write out my resolutions for the upcoming year. And what resolutions they were! I always picked big goals, like: In the New Year, I will lose 50 pounds! And run a marathon!
The problem I’d start out strong, but by February or March, I’d be out of willpower and I’d slide quietly back into my old habits. Every winter, I’d feel guilty and ashamed, looking back at all of the amazing things… I think one of my biggest problems with New Years resolutions was wanting to “dream big” but not having the skills and ability to do those things.
Now I take the opposite approach I’m all about the little goals. First, little goals are easy to set. Instead of saying I’m going to run a marathon, I’ve decided I’m going to run 20 minutes three days a week. Second, little goals are easier to accomplish. Every time I check one of my mini goals off my list, I feel a burst of pride and accomplishment. It’s a great feeling, and I don’t have to wait until the end of the year to enjoy it!
The other great thing about making small goals instead of resolutions is that you can build small goals on top of each other, adding the achievements together. For instance, recently I decided to make sure I ate five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. After a few months, this became a solid habit.
8.Why did the author feel guilty and ashamed
A.Because she picked big goals as her resolutions.
B.Because she failed to accomplish her resolutions.
C.Because she concentrated on the amazing things.
D.Because she loved the sense of accomplishment.
9.How did the author solve her problem
A.She began to make small goals. B.She returned to her old habits.
C.She changed her attitude to dreams. D.She gave up making any resolutions.
10.What did the author want to say in the last paragraph
A.Small goals are easy to achieve. B.Small goals lead to big achievements.
C.Persistence brings about good habits. D.Resolutions are worse than mini goals.
11.What can be a suitable title for the text
A.Make New Year’s Resolutions B.Combine Big and Small Goals
C.Set Small Goals not Big Ones D.Dream Big and Take Action
【答案】8.B 9.A 10.B 11.C
根据第二段中“I’d start out strong, but by February or March, I’d be out of willpower and I’d slide quietly back into my old habits. Every winter, I’d feel guilty and ashamed, looking back at all of the amazing things…
根据第三段中“Now I take the opposite approach I’m all about the little goals.(现在我采取了相反的方法,我只关注小目标。)”
根据最后一段中“The other great thing about making small goals instead of resolutions is that you can build small goals on top of each other, adding the achievements together.(制定小目标而不是下定决心的另一个好处是,你可以把一个个小目标建立起来,把成就加在一起。)”
根据第二段中“I think one of my biggest problems with New Years resolutions was wanting to “dream big” but not having the skills and ability to do those things.(我认为我的新年决心最大的问题之一是想要“梦想远大”,但没有技能和能力去做这些事情。)”和第三段中“Now I take the opposite approach I’m all about the little goals.
The 2023 China-Germany Automobile Conference was held in Jilin, Henan, and Zhejiang recently. At the conference, people discussed plans for new energy vehicles (NEVs) and collaboration (合作) between Germany and China.
China has established a competitive edge in NEVs. In 2022, China’s market share of NEVs accounted for more than 65 percent of the global total, maintaining its position as the world’s leading NEV market for eight years, China Daily reported.
Reflecting on the journey of leading Chinese electric car manufacturer (制造商) BYD, Chairman Wang Chuanfu recalled about 2003 when BYD entered into the NEV industry amid doubts and mockery, as few people back then believed in the future of NEVs. Surprisingly, within a few years, China’s NEV exports increased greatly. In 2022, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers reported an impressive total export volume of 679,000 NEVs.
In the European market, Chinese brands, such as BYD and Hongqi, have entered the top 50 best-selling motor companies across Europe, The Times reported. Shu Youxing, general manager of BYD International Cooperation Division and the European Automobile Sales Division, said that the company’s pure electric buses have now hit the roads of more than 100 major European cities such as Amsterdam, London, and Copenhagen, helping Europeans cut carbon emissions by over 200,000 tons.
NEVs made in China are also popular in Mexico. One local, Israel Aguilar, is deeply impressed. After nearly a year of trying out a Chinese NEV, Aguilar said he may never go back to driving his traditional petrol car, stating that the NEV offers better comfort.
“Technology is truly very important in these times, especially for a vehicle. And it has been truly extraordinary for me to handle these technologies that come from China,” Aguilar told Xinhua.
The thriving global expansion of Chinese NEVs is primarily thanks to the efforts of companies to improve their capability for innovation. One major example of this is China’s drive to become the global leader in making EV batteries, fueled by an advantage in the supply chain and raw materials such as lithium (锂) and cobalt (钴).
12.What can we learn about BYD
A.BYD always maintains the world’s leading position.
B.BYD lost hope due to doubts and mockery.
C.BYD suffered hardship in its development.
D.BYD exports 679,000 NEVs each year.
13.What can we infer from the fourth paragraph
A.Only BYD and Hongqi have entered the European market.
B.Chinese NEVs can help protect the environment.
C.Pure electric buses have caused many road accidents.
D.Importing Chinese NEVs is a main task for The Times.
14.What is Aguilar’s attitude to the technology from China
A.Dismissive. B.Satisfied. C.Unclear. D.Doubtful.
15.What is the key factor for the global expansion of Chinese NEVs
A.The ability of creation. B.Cooperation with partners.
C.The big overseas markets. D.Making EV batteries.
【答案】12.C 13.B 14.B 15.A

根据文章第四段“Shu Youxing, general manager of BYD International Cooperation Division and the European Automobile Sales Division, said that the company’s pure electric buses have now hit the roads of more than 100 major European cities such as Amsterdam, London, and Copenhagen, helping Europeans cut carbon emissions by over 200,000 tons.(比亚迪国际合作部和欧洲汽车销售部总经理舒酉星表示,该公司的纯电动公交车目前已经在阿姆斯特丹、伦敦和哥本哈根等100多个欧洲主要城市上路,帮助欧洲人减少了20多万吨的碳排放)”可知,中国的新能源汽车可以帮助保护环境。故选B。
根据文章倒数第三段“One local, Israel Aguilar, is deeply impressed. After nearly a year of trying out a Chinese NEV, Aguilar said he may never go back to driving his traditional petrol car, stating that the NEV offers better comfort.(以色列人阿吉拉尔(Israel Aguilar)对此印象深刻。 And it has been truly extraordinary for me to handle these technologies that come from China,” Aguilar told Xinhua.(“在这个时代,科技真的非常重要,尤其是对汽车来说。

文章为了表达准确严密,经常通过加上相应的词语限制如涉及数量时常用many,almost all,nearly, more than, over, only afew,normally等限制。

C.The big overseas markets. D.Making EV batteries.
