(Contextual clue: However, dangerous conditions and damaged roads will make it difficult to deliver food and supplies.) 读细节信息,通过新闻报道的署名行和上下文推断特定信息,提高学生的阅读技能。 3’ IW/CWStep 4 Organization: Ss read the news report quickly and find out the organization of the news report (or T can raise the question: what elements does the news report include ) T conclude the structure of the news report: Headline - tells what the story is about Byline - shows who wrote the story and when the event took place Lead - tells the most important facts (5W's) Body - contains more information and details Ending - gives something to think about T asks Ss to read the lead carefully and find out 5W’s. (in southeastern Asia countries) 梳理新闻报道的基本框架和主要内容;复习新闻报道的开头5W’s。 5’ CWStep 5 Key words: T teach the key words by giving related collocations and examples presented as follows: crash v. 碰撞 ~into sth e.g. A truck went out of control and crashed into the back of a bus. sweep v. 清扫 ~ (sth) away 彻底消除 e.g. Any doubts had long since been swept away. strike v. (灾难,疾病)侵袭 e.g. The area was struck by an outbreak of cholera. deliver v. 递送 ~sth to sb e.g. Leaflets have been delivered to every household. 5. stand at sth 表示“达到特定水平(或数量、高度等)”,例如:It's said that the highest death toll caused by a lightening strike stands at 91, when a plane was struck and crashed into the Amazon rain forest in 1971. 通过图片和例子对重点词汇讲解,增强词汇学习的有效性。 4’ CWStep 6 Read and check: Ss read the summary and check the main point it includes. T presents the definition of the summary, steps to write a summary, and tips for writing a summary. Definition: A summary is a short statement of main points. A summary paragraph tells the main ideas and the most important information of a longer passage. Steps: ①read the article; ②find the most important details; ③write notes(paraphrase); ④organize the notes; ⑤write a summary. Tips: Gather the main points that must be discussed. (the news report presents only important facts) Use your own words. (paraphrase or rewrite the original text) Keep it short and concise. (summary is a short statement) Don't add personal opinions on the issue or topic. (the news report is factual and objective) Write in present tense. (to describe a general fact) 2. Ss evaluate the summary by using the checklist above. 通过概念,步骤和提示,让学生进一步了解什么是 概要总结,对概要写作形成正确的认知。 5’ CWStep 8 Write a summary: Ss read the text on the page 50 and write down the main details. Suggested answers: ①the city of Tangshan ②Nearly everything in the city was destroyed after the earthquake ③The city began to breathe again with the help of rescue workers ④Tangshan started to revive with the government's support and people's efforts Ss write down the main idea of each paragraph. Suggested answers: ①Warning signs before the earthquake. ②The damage during the earthquake. ③The ruins after the earthquake. ④The rescue work after the earthquake. ⑤The revival of Tangshan city. 3. Does the summary include only the most important information of the text ... ... 为学生互评提供评价标准,使得评价更加客观。 3’ GWStep 10 Revising: Ss get their drafts back and revise them carefully according to their partner’s feedback.
