Mr. Brown’s office was eight miles from his home, and he drove about twenty minutes home every day for lunch. Every time he drove home at noon, he found many cars outside his house and there was no room (空间) for his own car. He had to drive somewhere else to park his car. Then he walked back home. This made him very angry.
In the garden facing the road, Mr. Brown put up a board: NO PARKING

Jack London was a famous American writer. He was born on the twelfth of January, 1876. His family was very poor and Jack had to leave school early to earn some money. He worked hard in many jobs.
In 1897, he went to Alaska to look for gold (金子). Instead, he found ideas there for his books and stories. He went back home and began to write. He became rich and famous when he was over twenty.
Jack was not a happy man, for he was in poor health. He died in 1916. He was only 40 years old.
