教材分析:
单元导入呈现的是一个视频,内容为自然灾害的介绍是实际情况分析。通过视频激发学生的学习兴趣,拓展学生们的知识面。通过讲解名人名言及从视频延伸出讨论内容,激活学生已知的自然灾害类型及背景知识,并通过拓展问题的讨论增加学生对自然灾害的感知。
教学策略与设计说明:
采用任务型教学法(Task-based language teaching),布置活动任务,设置活动目的,引导学生完成相关任务,达成各教学步骤设计目的。
教学目标:
在本课学习结束时,学生能够:

活跃课堂氛围,引导学生获得视频中的信息点,初步了解自然灾害形成的原因。

教学过程:

Step 1 Lead in: 1. Before class, have students surf the Internet and get some information about natural disasters. 2. Present students with a news video about the scenes of natural disasters and have them talk about what they have seen. (1) What happened in the news video (2) If you were there, how would you feel Ss respond their feelings and recall their memories about disaster they have heard. The teacher can encourage them to describe what other natural disasters they know by showing different pictures. Then, T shows key words. 课前预设主题任务,激发学生的学习兴趣,提高学生自学能力的同时,开发话题资源,为单元学习做好准备。 5’ CW/GW
Step 2 Watch the video: Ss watch a video for the first time, and T asks: What’s the meaning of “the power of nature ” [alternatively, T can display some adjectives for giving some tips say destructive, unpredictable extensive and unstoppable etc.] Then Students watch a video about three different natural disasters and finish the blank-filling exercise next to the preview of the video clip. Step 3 Discussion The teacher has students exchange their information and knowledge about natural disasters by answering the question on Page 15. What natural disasters in history have you heard about [Ss can discuss the question by free talk, and T can encourage Ss to show some picture or news they have] Students should follow some rules and a given structure. 1. Super Typhoon Mangkhut in China: extremely strong wind from oceans … 2018.9, set foot on Guangtong, 5 provinces, cost 5.2 billion yuan … 2. Indian Ocean Tsunami: huge waves, earthquake/volcanic eruption … 2004, around 240,000 deaths … Structure (Name) Another type of natural disaster that I know about is ... Step 4 Discussion: T asks Ss to understand the proverb from Victor Hugo. First, they should discuss the differences between “loving mother” and “butcher in cold bood”, then, how the nature plays different roles on the earth. Then, for expanding Ss horizon, T can introduce who Victor Hugo was, and what his famous works are. Finally, linking to Ss personal feelings and understanding, they should answer the question: What does disasters remind you of 辩证思考雨果名言,掌握语句背后的含义,拓展名人知识,了解时代背景。 8’ CW/IW
