What was your dream occupation in your childhood [T leads Ss to recall memory about their respect for different occupation, especially scientists.] 2. What are your first impression of scientists [after Q1, Ss think the reason and their impression of scientists. T shows pictures of Yuan Longping and Hawking for leading in next task] 利用生活场景,创设互动情境,拉近沟通距离,激发学习兴趣的同时,开发话题资源,为单元学习做好准备。 5’ CW/GWStep 2 Lead in: T shows a proverb from Irving Langmuir and asks Ss: How do you feel about the saying Alternatively, T can highlight “curiosity” and “truth” for asking Ss to thinking what they represent. Alternatively, T can ask why motivation is important for scientists. Then, T introduces Irving Langmuir. 理解名言背后的中心思想,开发学生对主题的认识和见解,讲解名人事迹,拓展思维意识。 5’ GWStep 3 Welcome to the unit: T asks “Do you know some stories of the two scientists ” and shows two pictures of them (Yuan and Hawking) for preparing the video task. Next, T needs to analyse each blank and check the answers. Then, T highlights the famous achievements of them. What can we learn from these great scientists [improve topic vocabularies and consolidate the content Ss have learnt] 2. Do you want to be scientist now [link to Ss’ daily life and experience and improve their language skill.
