Boy：Yesterday was a terrible day. My alarm didn’t go off so I woke up late. It was seven thirty when I woke up, and I needed to be at school by eight! I ran to the bus stop…but, I still missed the bus.
It was eight thirty when I got to school. My teacher was angry and I felt bad all day. At four thirty, it was time to go home. I was waiting for the bus when…all of a sudden…it began to rain heavily.
It was like…a really crazy rainstorm! I thought I had an umbrella in my schoolbag, so I kept trying to look for it. I was so busy looking for the umbrella that I didn’t see a car coming. And it got water all over me! I was waiting like that…completely wet…for maybe almost an hour. Finally, the bus came and brought me home. I took a hot shower and ate some warm food. It felt so good to be home!

(1)用法:
①过去某个时刻正在发生的动作。He was cooking at six last night.
②过去某段时间正在发生的动作。I was staying here from March to May last year.
(2)时间状语:
常见的有 at nine last night/' at that times= then/at this time yesterday或有when( the teacher came in)/ while( he was reading)引导的句子
(3)过去进行时的构成: was/were+现在分词
用所给动词的适当形式填空：

begin v. 开始
begin 的常用词组：
① begin with... 以……开始
e.g. There are some words begin with J.
有一些单词以字母J开头。
② to begin with 首先；开始的时候
e.g. He spoke well to begin with, but then started rambling and repeating himself.
开始他说得很好，但是后来开始闲扯，一句话翻来覆去地讲。
③ begin to do sth.= begin doing sth. 开始做某事
e.g. Most roses will begin to bloom from late May.
大多数玫瑰从五月末开始开花。

2. I called again at eight and you didn’t answer then either.
either adv.（用于否定词组后）也
e.g. Peter can’t go and I can’t either.
皮特不能去，我也不能。
“I don’t like it.” “Me either.” (= Neither do I.)

either... or...（对两事物的选择）要么……要么，不是……就是，或者……或者
e.g. Either he could not come or he did not want to.
