Early on, Sandra Marshall showed a talent and love for art. A New York native, Sandra owes her passion for art, and her thirst for learning, to childhood trips into New York City to visit the museums, and galleries.
After Sandra received n Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University, she worked as a portrait painter and mural(壁画) artist but turned to food art when her daughter declared she would no longer eat meat. Sandra started exploring with fruits and vegetables to make cooking more fun, and was inspired by the colors of nature. Many parents confused by how their children shop or socialize, would feel undisturbed by how they are taught—this sector remains digitally behind. Can artificial intelligence boost the digital sector of classroom ChatGPT-like generative AI is generating excitement for providing personalized tutoring to students. By May. New York had let the bot back into classrooms.
Learners are accepting the technology. Two-fifths of undergraduates surveyed last y car by online tutoring company Chegg reported using an AI chatbot to help them with their studies, with half of those using it daily. Chegg’s chief executive told investors it was losing customers to ChatGPT as a result of the technology’s popularity. Yet there are good reasons to believe that education specialists who harness AI will eventually win over generalists such as Open AI and other tech firms eyeing the education business.
For one, AI chat bots have a bad habit of producing nonsense. “Students want content from trusted providers,” argues Kate Edwards from a textbook publisher. Her company hasn’t allowed ChatGPT and other AIs to use its material, but has instead used the content to train its own models into its learning apps. Besides, teaching isn’t merely about giving students an answer, but about presenting it in a way that helps them learn. Charbots must also be tailored to different age groups to avoid either cheating or infantilizing(使婴儿化) students.
Bringing AI to education won’t be easy. Many teachers are behind the learning curve. Less than a fifth of British educators surveyed by Pearson last year reported receiving training on digital learning tools. Tight budgets at many institutions will make selling new technology an uphill battle. Teachers’ attention may need to shift towards motivating students and instructing them on how to best work with AI tools. If those answers can be provided, it’s not just companies that stand to benefit. An influent in l paper from 1984 found that one-to-one tutoring improved the average academic performance of students. With the learning of students, especially those from poorer households, held back, such a development would certainly deserve top marks.
28. What do many parents think remains untouched by AI about their children
A. Their shopping habits. B. Their social behavior.
C. Their classroom learning. D. Their interest in digital devices.
29. What does the underlined word “harness” in paragraph 2mean
A. Develop. B. Use. C. Prohibit. D. Blame.
30. What mainly prevents AI from entering the classroom at present
A. Many teachers aren’t prepared technically.
B. Tailored chatbots can’t satisfy different needs.
C. AI has no right to copy textbooks for teaching.
D. It can be tricked to produce nonsense answers.
31. Where is the text most probably taken from
A. An introduction to AI. B. A product advertisement.
C. A guidebook to AI application. D. A review of AI in education.

Recent experiments exposed four common disease-causing bacteria to a Mars-like environment with its lack of water, insufficient atmospheric pressure, deadly radiation and poisonous salts. The bacteria remained alive for various periods of time, researchers report in the January Astrobiology.
In 2020, a team of scientists found that several bacterial species that live on or inside the human body were able to grow in a medium like the nutrient-poor conditions. That made some of the researchers wonder how such bugs would hold up under the unforgiving environment of Mass. So several members of that team, along with microbiologist Tommaso Zaccaria, did the experiment about four microbes(微生物), which usually live harmlessly on or in us but can lend to diseases when stressed.
“At the beginning, we thought that the environment on Mars would have a harmful effect on the cells so it would limit their growth.” says Zaccaria, a microbiologist in Cologne. “But instead, we saw that it was the opposite.”
He and his colleagues are now trying to figure out just how the microbes held on. Perhaps on Mars, the bacteria managed to find small areas with enough water, nutrients and protection from the deadly UV radiation. Zeccaria says. The researchers are also interested in determining how the human body will respond to bugs that have gone through such hard conditions.
The results suggest that human missions to Mars should bring plenty of different antibiotics(抗生素)to deal with disease-causing bacteria surviving on the Martian surface. And since we don’t want to accidentally mistake a terrestrial(地球上的) bug for a native Martian one while searching for life on Mars, Zaccaria also recommends that areas of the Red Planet be set n side like national parks, where humans would send only robotic vehicles and not our bacteria-carrying bodies.
Waters, a scientist who was not involved in the experiments, points out that human intelligence will hopefully find ways to solve such problems, which shouldn’t scare us away from sending people beyond our planet.
32. What is the purpose of the experiment
A. To show the similarity between the earth and Mars.
B. To prove that some microbes have strong ability to live.
C. To find out how some bacteria survive tough environment.
D. To explain how harmless microbes lead to diseases under stress.
33. What might be Zaccaria’s reaction to the findings
A. Amazed. B. Disappointed. C. Satisfied. D. Concerned.
34. What might kill bacteria on Mars
A. High stress. B. Certain radiation. C. Salty water. D. Much heat.
35. Which of the following does Zaccaria agree with
A. Setting up more national parks on the earth.
B. Continuing to search the whole Mars for life.
C. Bringing more microbes to Mars for further research.
D. Leaving special n re as for robotic vehicles on Mars.

Being flexible with mealtimes is important if you have busy schedules. Finding a common mealtime can be challenging. 39 If you’re hungry earlier, empower yourself to eat when you feel the need. There’s beauty inflexibility; you can still share quality time with loved ones by sitting together at the table when they eat, even if you’re not eating yourself.
Set boundaries on body talk
40 Setting boundaries around body image comments is essential, as these can significantly impact eating patterns and self-perception. This approach helps reduce the negative influence such comments can have on eating habits and fosters a positive, body-neutral environment where personal worth isn’t tied to physical appearance.
In navigating(导航) the complexities of modern home life, let these strategies be your guide to developing a peaceful and satisfying relationship with eating in your family.
A. It’s crucial to honour your own hunger signals.
B. When you eat, take the time to really notice your food.
C. Yet, you can establish a peaceful relationship with food easily.

Born to be different
I stood in front of the mirror, whispering to myself, “If I didn’t have this scar(疤痕), the world would embrace me more warmly.” With a heavy heart, I turned away from my reflection and gazed out of the window, the daily school routine—a constant reminder of the tightness in my chest. Each day, I prepared my sell for the unavoidable questions—the disgusted glances, and the eye-rolls as I bravely attempted to explain what it truly meant to be born with a cleft(裂缝,裂口).
Born with a cleft lip and orphaned(孤儿) at birth, I entered multiple adoptive homes until ages even when I was finally adopted by my forever home. But the frequent transitions had already left a bad mark on my young soul and I’d fallen behind in my schoolwork, and my appearance-related insecurities robbed me of any confidence. My future seemed clouded and uncertain, and I constantly sought approval from others, often finding myself in the wrong crowd.
Deep inside, I was fully aware that I was on the wrong path. Although the future remained a mystery, I desired something different and realized that I had to change the course of my life.
Thankfully, in middle school, my life took a turn. I started to hang out with uplifting friends—individuals who accepted me without judgment and taught me the value of self-love. My sixth-grade social studies teacher, Cynthia, with her passionate delivery of history, often had me staying after class to further explore global issues. She inspired me to become the change I longed to see in the world.
One day, I delivered a speech in front of my classmates, discussing the significance of the “Treaty of Versailles(《凡尔赛条约》)”. After my speech, Cynthia called to me. “Ashleigh, I would like to speak with you for a moment, please.”
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;

第四部分 写作
第一节
Dear students,
Today, I am glad to share my opinion on the topic—“Love Myself”.
For me, loving oneself is-the foundation of mental health. By embracing our strengths, uniqueness and even our weaknesses, we will build confidence and resilience. To illustrate, I’d like to offer an example from my own life. There was a time when I struggled with math and failed many times. Instead of beating myself up, I learned to seek help and dedicate time to practice while relaxing myself through leisure activities. Consequently, my grades improved, my self-confidence grew and I came to appreciate my efforts.
So, I urge everyone to begin the journey of self-love. Acknowledge your accomplishments, forgive your mistakes, and be kind to yourselves.
Thank you.
第二节
My legs shook like trees in a storm. Why was I being pulled out of class! What had I done Once we stepped outside the classroom, she asked me, “Ashleigh, how is it that you are so good at public speaking ” She continued, “What do you want to be in the future ” My heart sank, as I realized I had no clear vision of who I wished to become. “Well,” I replied, pausing to reflect. “I have a keen interest in social issues. I envision myself serving in government, occupying a leadership position...And. I am passionate about addressing crowds, feeling the power to inspire audiences to take action.”
Cynthia nodded approvingly, “Ashleigh, I’d like to suggest you consider a career.in politics.” My eyes lit up as I had never felt more enlightened. With a newfound sense of purpose, I rushed home and began my research on politics-related careers. The following days witnessed my improving public speaking skills and learning more about global issues. Now, standing in front of the mirror, I am free from anxiety, as I have come to realize that I no longer need to seek approval from others. Instead, I focus on what truly matters-my inner confidence. I learn to love myself for who I am, scars and all. I may have been born different, but I am also born to be great.

M: I’m here to pick up Jane—I’m her father.
W: Oh, Mr. Besson! Jane’s finishing her kindergarten art project. I’ll bring her out to your carina minute.
M: Great! No rush.
Text 2
M: Mommy, I don’t feel good. My stomach hurts.
W: Oh, no! Let me get some medicine. Now I’ll call the school for your day off. Try to rest, dear.
Text 3
W: One of my dreams is to go to Africa. Of all the African countries, there are some of the world’s fastest-growing countries.
M: Wow, would you go for business or take a tour
W: I’d just go to visit my uncle and aunt.
Text 4
W: Hey, Jack! The semester is almost over. What’s your favorite subject for this semester
M: I enjoy every subject.
W: You must have so mc subjects you enjoyed more than others.
M: I’d say it’s my political science class, though I do like business communication and applied science.
Text 5
W: May I watch how you’re doing it
M: Sure. You dig a hole, put in the seed, cover it with soil, and then water it.
Text 6
M: Excuse me, does this bus go to the train station
W: No, this is the No.22 bus and it’s only going as far as the shopping center. You can take either the No.96 or No.42 bus.
M: Can I catch them at this stop
W: No you can get on the No.96 at the bottom of this road, and the No.42 stops outside the museum.
M: Do you know which will be the first one to arrive
W: If you hurry, you might just catch the No.42. The next No.96 won’t arrive until half an hour later. They both run every hour.
M: OK, thanks very much for your help. I’d better go now. I don’t want to waste time waiting.
Text 7
W: How is my wonderful grandson today
M: I’m OK. Actually, I’m going to the hospital tomorrow and I’m a bit worried.
W: Oh, I remember you told me about that before. Are you having an operation on your shoulder
M: Yes, the doctor said that I’ve used it so much over the years that I’ve worn down the bone. She said it was because I poured too many cups of tea for my wife.
W: Did she really say that
M: Ha-ha! No, I’m joking. It’s actually because of all the tennis I’ve played over the years.
W: You only play tennis once every month, but you’re on the golf course practically every day!
M: Obviously, playing golf is actually good for it. I played a lot of tennis when I was young.
W: Oh, I see. How is your shoulder feeling today
M: Not too bad.
W: Then you can make mean ice cup of tea! I’m so thirsty!
Text 8
M: Suzy, we should buy your parents some traditional Swiss gifts while we’re traveling herein Switzerland.
W: Good plan! What’s this place famous for
M: Hmm...Swiss army knives, clocks, watches...
W: Oh, don’t give the many of those!
M: Why not
W: In China, we believe that giving someone a knife means you want to “cut off” your relationship with them.
M: Oh, dear! I don’t want that!
W: And clocks and watches are generally bad luck, especially for older people. They represent time being running out, I suppose.
M: I see.
W: Don’t you have any of these customs in the UK
M: Well, it’s a little different. What about chocolates for your parents
W: My dad loves sweets! But my mom doesn’t.
M: Would she like this little music box with flowers painted on the top
W: Definitely! She could use it to keep herrings and other items in.
Text 9
W: Mark, does your team always participate in games and matches
M: Yeah. Our coach regularly arranges for a game with local teams or teams from other districts. Just last week we played against the team from the Lake District. They were the champion of last season’s national volleyball league.
W: Did you win
M: No. We narrowly lost the match 2: 3.
W: What a pity! I really want to join the team to play volleyball with you.
M: I know tennis is your favorite. If you want to be admitted into a volleyball team, it happens that our volleyball coach has decided to quit his position from our team and is looking for girls to form our school’s first women’s volleyball team. Would you be interested
W: Yeah. It sounds fun. Just tell your coach that I’m a capable volleyball player.
M: That’s great. By the way, this Sunday, a bunch of us are going to watch a volleyball game played by the famous Mariners. Do you want to join us
W: Yeah! I’ll go. I like the atmosphere of going to the gym to watch a volleyball game.
M: OK. I’ll make sure to get you a ticket as well.

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Museum of Fine Arts, This museum houses some of the greatest works of art found in the entire world. There are priceless collections of paintings, coins and other items spanning a period of history from 3000 BC to the present day. There are four separate parts to the museum—the Gallery of Ancient Treasures, the Gallery of Classic Art, the Gallery of Modern Art and the Gallery of Sculpture. I highly recommend you should start your tour in the Gallery of Sculpture. I particularly advise you to visit the Gallery of Modern Art, because at the moment, there is a visiting collection of French modern art. It is truly incredible. The paintings on display there are nothing short of wonderful. I promise you won’t be disappointed. To get the most out of your museum tour, you can buy an audio guide from the gift shop. It really is worth it because you’ll be able to hear expert opinions and descriptions of all the works. So, ladies and gentlemen, the time now is 11:00 a.m. I suggest we all meet in the hall in four hours. That should give you plenty of time to see everything. Does anyone have any questions No OK, enjoy your visit and I will see you later.
