教学目标
通过本堂课的学习，学生能够： 1. 通过快速查找topic sentences，梳理文本结构； 2. 通过绘制时间轴，理解阿斯旺大坝项目的始末； 3. 通过探讨阿斯旺大坝项目的意义，了解文化遗产保护和经济发展之间的平衡关系。
教学内容
教学重难点： 指导学生从整体和关键细节两方面分析文本，绘制时间轴，聚焦阿斯旺大坝项目的意义，培养学生探究主题意义的逻辑思维能力；与同伴探讨文化遗产保护和经济发展之间的平衡关系。学生们缺少这几个方面的能力，使得教学重点也成为了难点。
教学过程
Before Listening Activity 1: Activating background knowledge related to cultural heritage Ss talk about what they know and what they want to know about Egypt. Q1: When it comes to Egypt, what comes to your mind Q2: What do you want to know about it 【设计意图】让学生头脑风暴对希腊的背景知识，激起他们的学习欲望和兴趣，为接下来的环节作好铺垫。 【核心素养提升点】锻炼语言表达能力和逻辑思维能力。 Activity 2: Predicting the content of the text 本活动为落实课时目标1作铺垫。 1. T shows two pictures of the Aswan Dam and the title of the text. Ss are encouraged to predict what the text is about. 2. Guess more information that might be in the text. 【设计意图】让学生根据图片和标题预测课文内容，旨在锻炼学生的思维能力；采用开放式小组讨论活动，旨在提高学生的参与度，降低任务难度，让学生能达成目标，获得成就感。 【核心素养提升点】培养学生主动思考、合理预测和小组合作能力。 While Reading Activity 3: Reading for the structure of the text 本活动旨在落实课时目标1。 1. Ss read the text for the first time, and focus on the topic sentence of each paragraph. Then Ss divide the passage into 3 parts and provide supporting details. 2. Ss summarize each part with a key word. 【设计意图】通过查找主题句，确定每段的段落大意；根据主题句中的关键词，有助于学生更好地理解全文，明确文本体裁。 【核心素养提升点】培养学生快速查找重要信息并利用信息间的联系，建构核心内容的分析归纳的关键能力。 Activity 4: Reading for the detailed information 本活动旨在落实课时目标2。 1. Ss read Paragraph 1&2, and find out the problem of the Egyptian government. Q1:What does “problems” refer to Q2: What was the problem in the example 2. Ss read Paragraph 3-5, and draw a timeline of the process of building the Aswan Dam. Q1: What happened in the following time periods Q2: How did the project begin Q3: How was the first temple moved Q4: What do you think of the Aswan Dam Project 【设计意图】通过具体问题和时间轴，深挖文本内容，引导学生学会用不同方式解读内容，如查找主题句、思考文本特征、寻找关键信息、回顾文化背景、梳理事情内在逻辑。 【核心素养提升点】培养利用思维导图解构文本重要内容的逻辑思维能力。 After Reading Activity 5: Discussing the theme Ss discuss whether it was worthwhile to have spent so much effort to protect the temple. 【设计意图】学生通过无干扰自主阅读，从而深入理解语篇的主题。培养学生自主学习的能力，同时深入探讨和理解单元主题意义，运用所学主题语言。 【核心素养提升点】培养学生分析、归纳的逻辑思维能力和自主探究学习能力。
Activity 6: Assignment 1. Write a mini report on the preservation of the Aswan Dam project and make comments and polish it. 2. Research the local cultural heritage and talk about their preservation. 【设计意图】通过创写新闻报道，实现课内学习的课外延申，同时，加深对单元主题意义的理解。 【核心素养提升点】培养自主学习的能力和语言迁移运用和整合性输出的能力；培养批判性思维、创新性思维、横向思维等多元思维能力。
