教学目标
During the class, students will listen for general and detailed information about a music festival through an announcement and finish some tasks. By the end of this class, students will be able to 1. talk about a music festival; 2. talk about their preferences; 3. plan a new music festival.
教学内容
教学重点: 1. Guide students to practise their listening skills of predicting, taking quick notes and listening for structure.
2. Encourage students to talk about a music festival and about their preferences in certain situations. 3. Activate students to think of more expressions to talk about a music festival or an activity.
教学难点: 1. Inspire students to make new dialogues of talking about a music festival and their preferences.
2. Assistant students to plan a new music festival and announce it.
教学过程
Activity 1: Predicting Purpose: To practise the skill of predicting before listening. Q: What do you expect to know from the announcement SA: I expect to know when and where it will be held; who will get involved; what they will do. Activity 2: Listening to check Purpose: To practise listening for general information. Q: What is included in the announcement SA: I heard when and where it will be held, who will get involved, what they will do and also why it will be held, as well as how to sign up. Activity 3: Listening for details Purpose: To practise listening for detailed information and taking quick notes. Q: What details are given in the announcement SA: When will it be held Where will it be held Who is Patty Williams What’s the name of the band What kind of music will Grace Davis sing Who else are needed What will they do How can people sign up for it What’s the purpose of the festival SA: next month; on the school sports field; singer/star; Traditional Music; folk;performers; choir; tickets; food stands; touch; charity. Activity 4: Listening for structure Purpose: To practise listening for sentence patterns. Expressions to announce a music festival: 1)We will hold / host a music festival + time + place + purpose 2)Our guests include... and... who will... 3)We also need other musical performers and choir members. 4)Those with musical talent can try out. 5)Volunteers of all kinds are welcome to help out. 6)Anyone interested can get in touch with / contact ... at... before... Activity 5: Talking about the music festival Purpose: To inspire students to apply what they have learned to a dialogue. Q: What information do Debbie and Frank tell to John about the music festival SA: The time, the place,the things they can do and the purpose of the music festival. Q: What would they do at the music festival SA: John would rather play the violin than play the piano. Debbie would prefer to help out with the crowds. Activity 6: Talking about preferences Purpose: To encourage students to talk about their preferences for musical activities. Q: How about you What would you prefer to do SA: I’d prefer to act in a musical play. Talk about your preferences with your partner. Make a dialogue with your partners according to the following information. Sarah is good at playing the piano. Peter loves singing and is in the school choir. Jack doesn’t have much musical talent. Activity 7: Planning a music festival Purpose: To consolidate what has been taught in this class. Homework: Talk with your friends about the music festival you just planned and invite them to take part in it. Purpose: To practise knowledge transfer by talking about a music festival in a form of inviting.
