1. Have students answer the following questions.
(1) Do you often use the Internet How about your parents
Yes. I often use the Internet, and so do my parents.
(2) In which way do you usually access the Internet
I usually access the Internet by using a mobile device, such as a smartphone
or tablet.
(3) What do you often do on the Internet
I often send emails, text instant messages, search for information, download
learning resources, do online shopping and make online payments.
2. Have students finish A1 on page 36.
1) The history and development of the Internet. 2)Four computers.
3)A space to share information. 4)To build their own websites.
3. Have students finish A2 on page 36.

And now it’s the same.
(3) During the last five years, which use of the Internet has decreased the

3. Have students view the chart about “Ways people access the Internet by
percentage”, and describe the chart by using the following expressions.
Useful expressions:
As can be conveyed/illustrated/reflected from the pie charts ...
There has been a rise/an increase/a drop/a decrease of ... per cent in the
number of people ...
As can be reflected from the pie charts, over the past five years, the number
of the users who access the Internet using mobile devices has risen from 69%
to 95%, while the percentage of users who access the Internet without using
mobile devices has dropped from 31% to 5%.
