One day, my father came back home and gave me a little bird. It fell from its nest and got hurt. It could not fly back. I took pity on the little bird and decided to take care of it.
I made it a warm nest with napkins(纸巾) so that it could live comfortably. I also prepared food and water for it. Two days later, it was full of energy and it could even fly a short distance.

When we think of art, we probably think of painting a picture on a strong cloth or special paper, even on walls of a city. However, in many cultures people paint their faces instead.

In fact, face painting may be the very first form of art. Painting faces are in different colors and patterns(图案). This has been part of people’s traditions for thousands of years. The way that people painted their faces can tell stories and lessons from the past.

People still paint their faces for lots of reasons. Patterns on faces connect people to a tribal(部落) family and can show who is the most important person in the family. Scientists studied 105 students between the ages of eight and nine. 35 trained dogs and their trainers also took part in the test. The children were divided into 3 groups. The students in the first group spent 20 minutes with a dog and its trainer. They watched the trained dogs perform and even played with them. They did this twice a week for 4 weeks. The second group spent the same amount of time doing exercise to relax. The last group did neither of these things.
During this time, the scientists recorded the students’ cortisol levels(皮质醇水平). Cortisol is a stress hormone(激素). The more stressed you feel, the more cortisol you will have in your body. What did the scientists find Both the second and third groups showed rises in cortisol levels. The first group, however, showed no big increase. And the children in this group had the lowest cortisol levels right after playing with the dogs.
According to the study, students enjoy playing with dogs, and it helps them become happier. The stress hormone falls over time this way, which is good for students’ health. How to Read Widely
It’s useful for us to read widely. Reading widely is one of the most important way for me to get knowledge. Through reading, I can broaden my horizon, refresh my mind and gain a lot enjoyment.
As for me, I always make full use of my free time on reading. I spend fifteen minutes in reading before I go to bed every day. Besides, I like going to the library with my friends at weekends. The library is a good place which can satisfy my need of books. What’s more, I keep taking notes while reading. It’s a good way to put my heart into books.
