Lesson7 Too late
The plane was late and detectives were waiting at the airport all morning. They were expecting a valuable parcel of diamonds from South Africa. A few hours earlier, someone had told the police that thieves would try to steal the diamonds. When the plane arrived, some of the detectives were waiting inside the main building while others were waiting on the airfield. Two men took the parcel off the plane and carried it into the Customs House. While two detectives were keeping guard at the door, two others opened the parcel. To their surprise, the precious parcel was full of stones and sand.

过去进行时
When I was watering the garden, it began to rain.当我正在花园里浇水时，开始下雨了。

表示一个动作发生时，另一个动作正在进行
When my mum came home, I was sleeping. 当我妈妈到家时，我正在睡觉。
表示一个动作正在进行,另一个动作突然发生:
When I was walking, it rained. 当我在散步的时候，下雨了。
表示两个动作同时进行.

at+ 过去时间点：at that moment在那个瞬间 at that time在那时at ten yesterday evening昨天晚上十点
those days那些日子 from... to... +过去时间 when/while/a/just as引导的时间状语从句
<5> when和while在引导时间状语从句时的区别
when既可以表示某一点时间，也可以表示某一段时间。
在when引导的时间状语从句中，其谓语动词可以是延续性的，也可以是非延续性的，可与主句中的谓语动词同时发生，也可以在其后。
When he was a child, he was always trying out new ideas. 他小时候常常尝试一些新的想法。
When he knocked at the door, I was having a bath.他敲门的时候， 我正在洗澡。
while只能表示某一段时间，不能表示某一点时间。 在while引导的时间状语从句中，其谓语动词只能是延续性的，而且表示的动作只能与主句中的谓语动词同时发生或存在。
While Jim was mending his bike while Lin Tao came to see him.正当吉姆修自行车时，林涛来看他了。
You can’t do your homework while you’re watching TV.你不能一边看电视一边做家庭作业。
while引导的时间状语从句多用进行时态，而when引导的时间状语从句多用一般时态。
While they were talking, the bell rang. 正在他们谈话的时候，铃声响了。
