A number of years ago, a man went to visit a circus (马戏团) in New York. He was able to walk around looking at the lions, monkeys, bears and other circus animals. As he was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped. He found that these huge elephants were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains (链子), no cages (笼子). It was clear that the elephants could, at any time, break away from their ropes but for some reasons, they did not.
He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and didn’t try to get away. “Well,” the trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller, we use the same size rope to tie them, and at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they still believe they can not break away. They believe the rope can hold them, so they never try to break free.”
“How could it be ” said the man. These animals could at any time break free from ropes. But because they were always stuck right where they were, they believed they couldn’t.

ChatGPT, a new chatbot model! Developed by Open AI, it has taken the internet by storm, winning 100 million users since it came out in November 2022. It can write emails, computer codes (代码), songs, poems, and even short stories, and has passed a number of tests within seconds. Experts around the world are discussing whether AI should be used in education. Some schools have banned (禁止) it. The New York City’s Department of Education, for example, banned ChatGPT from its public school networks, and some people are warning that it could encourage more students to cheat, especially in exams.
Many more welcome this app, saying that, like most technologies in history, ChatGPT is a powerful tool for the development of education.
Accepting AI as early as possible is a good choice. Schools should make preparations for including AI in their teaching plans. They can start by offering AI courses, because by understanding how it works, they can make better use of it. Besides, students with good knowledge of AI are more competitive (竞争的) when it comes to getting a job, as an increasing number of jobs are being done by computer programs. AI powered education technologies can be used to make the learning experience more suitable for each student. As for teachers, AI can free them from doing some boring work so they can focus on their teaching.
Since we cannot avoid ChatGPT and other AI powered apps from entering the field of education, we should make efforts to make sure they have a positive impact (影响) on society and the future of education. A number of years ago, a man went to visit a circus (马戏团) in New York. He was able to walk around looking at the
lions, monkeys, bears and other circus animals. As he was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped. He found that these
huge elephants were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains (链子), no cages (笼子). It was clear
that the elephants could, at any time, break away from their ropes but for some reasons, they did not.
He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and didn’t try to get away. “Well,” the trainer
said, “when they are very young and much smaller, we use the same size rope to tie them, and at that age, it’s enough to
hold them. As they grow up, they still believe they can not break away. They believe the rope can hold them, so they never
try to break free.”
“How could it be ” said the man. These animals could at any time break free from ropes. But because they were always
stuck right where they were, they believed they couldn’t.

ChatGPT, a new chatbot model! Developed by Open AI, it has taken the internet by storm, winning 100 million users
since it came out in November 2022. It can write emails, computer codes (代码), songs, poems, and even short stories, and
4
has passed a number of tests within seconds. Experts around the world are discussing whether AI should be used in education.
Some schools have banned (禁止) it. The New York City’s Department of Education, for example, banned ChatGPT from
its public school networks, and some people are warning that it could encourage more students to cheat, especially in exams.
Many more welcome this app, saying that, like most technologies in history, ChatGPT is a powerful tool for the
development of education.
Accepting AI as early as possible is a good choice. Schools should make preparations for including AI in their teaching
plans. They can start by offering AI courses, because by understanding how it works, they can make better use of it. Besides,
students with good knowledge of AI are more competitive (竞争的) when it comes to getting a job, as an increasing number
of jobs are being done by computer programs. AI powered education technologies can be used to make the learning
experience more suitable for each student. As for teachers, AI can free them from doing some boring work so they can focus
on their teaching.
Since we cannot avoid ChatGPT and other AI powered apps from entering the field of education, we should make
efforts to make sure they have a positive impact (影响) on society and the future of education. AI helps to make learning
much more interesting and enjoyable, but humans need to work very hard to win the race with technology.

例文
How to be a better teenager
Hello, everyone! Today I’d like to share my ideas about how to be a better
teenager.
First of all, we should develop healthy living habits. We can run for half an hour
every day to keep healthy. What’s more, we should make a study plan and take action
to achieve it. The more knowledge we learn, the brighter future we will have. And we
had better be friendly to others. When others need help, we should try our best to help
them. Finally, it is good to develop good hobbies and take part in voluntary activities,
such as cleaning the city park.
In a word, if we try our best, we will become better and better.
Thank you!
