一、阅读理解
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a type of computer program that helps machines learn to do things without being specially programmed. Just like how kids learn new things by practicing, AI programs learn by analyzing(分析) information. Let's walk into our ever more convenient Al-helped everyday life.
Siri, T-mall Elf, and Baidu Assistant, are all examples of Al-powered virtual(虚拟的) assistants. They can help you find information, set reminders, and play music just by talking to them.
Social media platforms like Weibo, Weixin, and Douyin use AI to suggest what to send and advertisements based on your interests and activities.
Self-driving cars use AI to sense things nearby and make decisions while on the road. They can sense other cars, people, and unwanted things in their way.
AI is used in healthcare to help doctors diagnose diseases and develop treatment plans. For example, AI can analyze medical pictures provided by X-rays and MRIs to find out abnormalities(身体异常) that may be difficult for humans to realize.
AI is being used in education to create personalized learning experiences for students. Al-powered programs can analyze a student's learning style and suggest activities that are the most useful for them.
AI has been influencing our lives in so many ways. Although there are still worries about the use of AI, its benefits cannot be denied. What more can AI help us with What will our future life with AI be like Let's just wait and see.

Developed by US company OpenAI, ChatGPT has taken the Internet by storm, winning 100 million users since it came out in November 2022. People can ask the robot to write stories and emails, create instructions for cooking a certain food, translate languages, and answer all kinds of questions. In its own words, it is "a language model trained in a large amount of Internet text to help users get human-like text".
Compared with Siri or otherchatbots, ChatGPT uses a much bigger information center for training. It also uses stronger software (软件) and hardware to learn things by itself. For example, if it provides a wrong answer to your question, you can tell it the right one and it will correct itself. "It's a totally different chatbot," computer scientist Liu Xiaoguang from Nankai University told Tianjin Daily. "The knowledge level ChatGPT shows is the same as a university student. That's why it shocked the world."
But one big problem with ChatGPT is that it makes mistakes or even gives false information. When Rezza, a 28-year-old from Indonesia, used the robot to write an essay (论文), it "gave out many examples which other writers actually hadn't mentioned at all", he told The Guardian. Since the robot is trained using words from the Internet, it can also pick up bias (偏见) about certain groups. These are all things that need to be dealt with.
6. Which can replace the underlined part in Paragraph 1
A. Succeeded greatly online.
B. Done harm to the Internet.
C. Brought strong wind and heavy rain.
D. Caused serious changes of the weather.
7. Why did ChatGPT shock the world
A. Because it can find mistakes by itself.
B. Because it works differently from other chatbots.
C. Because its information center is easier to control than Siri's.
D. Because its knowledge level is as high as a university student.
8. What can we learn from the last paragraph
A. Anybody can make mistakes.
B. Anybody may give false information.
C. ChatGPT needs improvement.
D. ChatGPT can't get on well with humans.
9. What might be the best title of the text
A. ChatGPT is Coming!
B. ChatGPT is Catching the World's Eye!
C. Can ChatGPT Take the Place of Humans
D. Can ChatGPT Avoid Bias Properly
More than 50 years ago, a famous British band called the Beatles split up (解散). They haven't recorded any music together since then, but artificial intelligence(AI) has helped to create one last Beatles song. This is just one of the ways that AI is changing the world and how we live. As technology improves, the use of AI is spreading.
The invention of AI
In the 20th century, scientists began to wonder if computers could think like us. In 1950, the British expert Alan Turing created the "Turing test" to see whether a computer is intelligent.
During this test, a human tester puts questions to a person and a computer at the same time. Both answer the questions, and the tester must decide which answers came from the human. If the tester can't tell the two apart, the computer is intelligent. Many people believe AIs that can write, like the ChatGPT system, have already passed this test.

AI is part of everyday life. It can study lots of information and from that work out what is likely to happen next. Self-driving cars, for example, use AI to make decisions. In hospitals, AI can study information about thousands of people to work out what might be wrong with a patient from their test results. Tools like ChatGPT can write computer code, stories and even solve maths problems.
The future of AI
Some people worry about how AI might influence their jobs. If computers can create pictures , music and text, could artists, musicians and writers one day be replaced Many people also fear that AI could be used to invent and spread lies. Even those who work in AI say there should be rules about how it is used. However, AI can spark(激发) creativity too. AI is very good at suggesting drugs to treat diseases, and can even invent new medicines. It can help us fight weather change by finding clever ways to reduce our energy use. One day it might even find a way to solve our energy needs completely.
10. In Paragraph 1, the writer leads into the topic by _____.
A. telling stories B. asking questions C. giving examples D. listing numbers
11. Alan made the "Turing test" to ________.
A. wonder if computers could think like humans
B. show humans are more intelligent than computers
C. get two answers to the questions at the same time
D. find out the differences between humans and computers
12. Which of the following can be put into ▲
A. The use of AI B. The problems of AI
C. The safety of AI D. The predictions of AI
13. What is the main purpose of the passage
A. To tell the importance of AI. B. To share the advantages of AI.
C. To explain the difficulties of AI. D. To introduce the information of AI.
Chat GPT is a type of AI that has been "trained" by looking at over 8 million web pages. When asked a question, Chat GPT uses this training to produce detailed answers that often seem like they were written by a human. You can ask it anything and it will give you an answer, although it does sometimes make mistakes. You can also ask it to write text, such as short stories or essays.
Chat GPT: the positives
Because Chat GPT is free to access and easy to use, it could make learning easier. When we use search engines such as Google, we have to look at individual web pages to find answers to our questions. With Chat GPT, we know that we are getting information supported by thousands of other web pages, with the information being given to us in simple and easy to understand language.
Chat GPT can also help people who struggle with language expression. Chat GPT can be used to help people who don't speak the same language communicate, and help people who have language-based disabilities to communicate more effectively. When used in this way, Chat GPT could be a great tool for bringing the world closer together.
Chat GPT: the negatives
Chat GPT is remarkable, but it is also a cause for concern. For thousands of years, students have been required to find information using books and, more recently, the internet. This requires a level of effort that usually rewards students who work hard and allows learners to see lots of different information. With Chat GPT, finding information becomes much easier than using the internet or a book. This could make cheating much easier, and make students feel their hard work isn't rewarded.
Chat GPT also presents other problems. Currently, there are millions of people around the world working in the "knowledge economy"(知识经济). This economy, which includes people such as translators, scientists, academics and writers is vulnerable(脆弱的) to Chat GPT. Because Chat GPT allows people to get information easily, these jobs could become much easier. This could result in many people losing their jobs or being paid much less, as their skills are no longer something companies need.
Conclusion
It's too soon to say what kind of influence Chat GPT will have on our lives. Let's hope that, if Chat GPT does become bigger and more popular, its effects are mostly positive.

三、书面表达
答案:
Dear Li Hua,
I'm glad to receive your letter and get a chance to discuss AI with you. I don't think you need to be too worried about it. AI will never completely take the place of human beings. Instead, it has more advantages than disadvantages.
First of all, AI can work by following orders of human beings. If people don't want to do some dangerous jobs, they can use AI to keep workers safe. It will save us much time and labour to work with AI. As a result, people can free themselves form work and spend more time on what they are interested in. AI plays an important role in the fields of science and technology in China.
In my opinion, AI is a double-edged sword. Instead of worrying about its negative effects, you should learn more about how to use it properly. Do you agree I'm looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Mike
