资源简介

Dear fellow students,
Our school has started a program of garbage classification. Different kinds of garbage are required to be sorted out and placed in different dustbins. Paper can be recycled, while leftovers can be collected as food for pigs or processed as fertilizer for plants. Above all, such harmful things as plastics and used batteries should not be mixed with other wastes.
The program is of great benefit. We will be able to save resources by making use of recyclable garbage and the harmful things will not pollute our environment after special treatment.
Let's work together for a better campus!

A painting stamped with more than 4.8 million fingerprints and cost over 80,000 yuan in paper has set the Guinness World Record for the largest fingerprint painting.
The fingerprint painting, named Descendants of the Dragon, was created by Kuang Xianpeng, a 35-year-old painter from Zhuzhou, Hunan Province. It describes a mix of nine Chinese dragons and six arts in ancient Chinese culture.
With a surface area of 1195.14 square meters, 51.526 meters long and 23.195 meters wide, the whole painting used 685 pieces of xuan paper and took Kuang over two years to complete. It also took 40 volunteers two whole days to lay out the painting for Guinness certification officer to measure.
Kuang said it was a very arduous journey, and he had used up all his spare time to finish the work. “It was very hard to master the amount of strength you put in your fingers,” he said. “You can’t press too hard or too light. Otherwise, your prints will blur(变得模糊). I have wasted over 300 pieces of paper due to blurred fingerprints.”
The Guinness certification officer Luo Qiong said this world record wasn’t easy to earn. She said each fingerprint must be clear, the painting must have more than four different colors, and the distance between each fingerprint mustn’t be more than 1 centimeter.
The world record for this category had been broken 15 times since 2014, with the previous one set by an Indian with a work measuring 1,188 square meters.
Before this painting, Kuang had spent 14 years in drawing a pen-and-ink painting of 247 meters long and 1.6 meters wide, telling stories of historical myths. He also said he would never stop exploring more creative works.
24. What can we know about the painting created by Kuang Xianpeng
A. It’s worth at least 80,000 yuan. B. It measures 1,188 square meters.
C. It took him 14 years to complete it. D. It consists of over 4.8 million fingerprints.

A. He is full of creativity. B. He is full of imagination.

Today, we are constantly bombarded with media reports about research on the right diet to follow to help us maintain a healthy lifestyle or lose weight — but it’s hard to know which one to pick and, once chosen, it’s harder still to stick to it. And now there’s another choice to get our teeth into.
A flexitarian (弹性素食者) diet involves eating plant-based foods and only occasionally eating meat and fish. This eating style allows you to supplement some ingredients that you wouldn’t get in a stricter vegan (素食主义者) diet — another trend growing in popularity. And like veganism, flexitarianism isn’t about eating carefully to help you lose a few pounds — it’s something people choose for ethical reasons, to help the planet. And a study into the global food system and how it affects the climate, has found that eating mainly plant-based foods is one of three key steps toward a sustainable future for all by 2050.
This research found that food waste will need to he halved and farming practices will also have to improve to achieve this. But without a single solution, a combined approach is needed. Dr Marco Springmann from the University of Oxford was one of the lead authors of the report. He told the BBC “We really found that a combination of measures would be needed to stay within environmental limits and those include changes towards healthier more plant-based diets.”
But whereas vegans think it is wrong for animals to be killed for food, flexitarians believe eating meat once in a while is acceptable. And Dr Springmann agrees — “as long as we treat it as a luxury, it’s probably OK but you shouldn’t have more than one serving of red meat, which includes beef and pork, per week.” And here’s another fact to digest: If we moved to this type of diet, the study found that greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture would be cut by more than half.
28. What is the purpose of the first paragraph
A. To lead to the topic. B. To entertain the readers.
C. To ask for information. D. To present an idea.
29. From the text, we can know that a flexitarian diet _____.
A. is the most popular eating style B. involves eating no meat
C. benefits the environment D. only balances the nutrition
30. What does Dr Marco Springmann agree with
A. It’s wrong to kill animals for food.
B. Improving farming practices makes no sense.
C. A plant-based diet has nothing to do with climate change.
D. Combined measures are needed for environmental protection.
31. What can be the suitable title for the text
A. Methods of keeping fit. B. Choose a flexitarian diet.
C. Measures to protect the environment. D. Keep a strict vegan diet.
D
While often seen as a negative(消极的)emotion, anger can also be a powerful motivator (促进因素)for people to achieve challenging goals in their lives, according to research published by the American Psychological Association.
“People often believe that a state of happiness is perfect, " said lead author Heather Lench, PhD, a professor in the department of psychological and brain sciences at Texas A & M University, “but previous research suggests that a mix of emotions, including negative emotions like anger, results in good outcomes."
The functionalist theory of emotion suggests that all emotions, good or bad, are reactions to events within a person's environment and help that person to make proper actions, according to Lench. For example, sadness may suggest that a person needs to seek help or emotional support, while anger may indicate a person needs to take action to overcome an obstacle(障碍).
To better understand the role of anger in achieving goals, researchers conducted a series of experiments involving more than 1,000 participants and analyzed survey data from more than 1,400 respondents. In each experiment, participants either had an emotional response (such as anger, amusement, desire or sadness) or a neutral(中性的)emotional state, and then were presented with a challenging goal. Across all the experiments, anger improved people's ability to reach their goals compared with a neutral condition in a variety of challenging situations.
“Our research adds to the growing evidence that a mix of positive and negative emotions promotes well-being, and that using negative emotions as tools can be particularly effective in some situations,” Lench said.
32. What is commonly believed concerning people's emotions
A. It is believed that a state of joy is great.
B. A feeling of sadness leads to poor effect.
C. Anger is actually a positive emotion.
D. Pride acts as an obstacle to success.
33. Why did researchers do a series of experiments
A. They hoped to overturn the previous findings.
B. They hoped to prove that a state of happiness is ideal.
C. They hoped to find the relationship between positive and negative emotions.
D. They hoped to have a better understanding of the role of anger in attaining goals.
34. What's Paragraph 4 mainly about
A. The problem of the research. B. The background of the research.
C. The process of the research. D. The significance of the research.
35. What's Lench's attitude to their research
A. Skeptical. B. Favorable. C. Uncaring. D. Critical.
第二节 七选五(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分7.5分)
Going green is a great way to reduce your environmental footprints and help the planet. Being green is all about reducing the resources you use, reusing items when you can, and recycling items that can’t be reused. 36
Carry a reusable water bottle so you will not need bottled water.
37 Not only does it create trash, but it also uses more resources because it’s shipped to the store. To be more eco-friendly, make it a habit to carry a reusable water bottle with you everywhere so that you can drink water anytime. Plastic bottles are usually the lightest and most convenient.
Use reusable bags while you’re shopping.
Shopping bags make it easy to carry your items home, but they also pollute the planet. Skip the store’s shopping bags and bring your own instead. Use a backpack that you already own, or purchase a couple of reusable bags from the checkout area at your local grocery store. 38
39
Before you throw something away, look for ways you might reuse it. Try re-purposing items or making green crafts. This will help you keep trash out of the landfill. For example, instead of throwing away a jar, you might use it as a glass, vase or storage container.
Reduce the amount of time you spend using electronics.
While electronics are really fun and help you feel connected to your friends, they also use up a lot of energy. Schedule breaks from your electronics so you can use them less. During your breaks, do something fun like going for a walk, playing a game with your friends, or pursuing a hobby. 40 For instance, instead of playing online video games together, go to a local park.
A. Reuse items to save them from the landfill.
B. You can use your reusable bags at most stores.
C. Bottled water is really bad for the environment.
D. You probably need to change your personal habits.
E. Invite your friend to connect with you in real life.
F. Glass bottles have come a long way in recent years.
G. You can find ideas for green crafts by searching online.
