1. 了解肢体语言的功能和地域文化属性,学会尊重和理解不同文化中的肢体语言。 2. 利用主题句和关键词,运用思维导图梳理说明文文本结构,分析段落层次,简要归纳说明文写作手法。 3. 运用肢体语言的地域文化属性解决情境问题,提高学生跨文化沟通能力。
教学内容
教学重点: 1. 理解说明文文本主要信息和篇章结构。
2. 了解肢体语言的地域文化属性。
教学难点: 1. 梳理事理性说明文“总-分”结构和段落层次,并探究写作手法。
2. 通过肢体语言的地域文化属性解决情境问题。
教学过程
Activity 1: Warming up 1. Teacher start the class by leading students to guess what she wants to convey by waving her hands. 2. Talk about ways of communication and the importance of body language. Activity 2: Interpreting Opening page 1. Look at the pictures in the opening page, and describe what the people are doing and guess what they might be feeling. 2. Talk about your understanding of the quote “What I hide by my language, my body utters.” Activity 3: Prediction 1.Read the title and picture, and predict what will be talked about in the text. 2. Skim the text and check the predictions. Activity 4: Reading for structure 1. Skimming the text and underline the topic sentence of each paragraph. 2. Circle the key word of each topic sentence. 3. Draw a mind map to show the structure of the text and summarize the main idea of each part. 4. Think about how the author develops the whole passage. Activity 5: Reading for details Explore in detail the functions, meanings and different uses of body language. What are the functions of body language How do bodies talk/ What are the specific expressions about body language in the text Smiling is a universal body language. what uses do you find in the text Can you think of other uses (Para 6) Thinking: How do you understand the sentence “Experts suggest smiling at yourself in the mirror to make yourself happier and stronger” Read and fill in the table: what meanings are conveyed through body language A. body language with the same meanings(Para 5) B. The same body language with different meanings(Para 2-4) Thinking: a. What advice does the author give on dealing with different meanings of body language in different cultures b. What attitude should we take towards the cultural differences of body language Activity 6: Applying 1. 1. Conclude from the passage that how people listen to body language. 2.Give advice on body language to the foreign teacher.
