教学目标
By the end of the class, you will be able to: 1. Listen to and understand the gist and details of a conversation about a student-volunteer experience. 2. Recognize examples in listening materials by focusing on words like such as, for example, etc. 3. Learn to use common and useful sentence patterns for making suggestions and giving responses by talking about volunteer work.
教学内容
教学重点： 1. Listening for details by focusing on key words.
2. Group work: brainstorm and complete the table about what kinds of help people need and how volunteers could help.
教学难点： 1. Recognize examples in listening materials. 2.Use expressions of making suggestions and giving responses to make a conversation.
教学过程
Activity 1 Sharing Listen T’s sharing of voluntary experience and share own or friends’ experience of doing volunteer work. [设计意图]通过教师的分享，引出话题，并在此过程中突出谈论志愿者经历的6个方面，引导学生分享自己的或者身边人的志愿者经历。同时，为后续讨论做好准备。 Activity 2 Listening and checking Listen to the conversation and check whether these aspects are mentioned: place, need, activity, quality, skill. [设计意图]通过第一次听对话，了解对话大致内容，为后续听力做准备。 Activity 3 Listening for details Acquire listening tips for recognizing examples Listen to the conversation and complete the table. [设计意图]抓取对话细节信息，了解对话中三个学生提到的志愿者活动内容和地点，为后续讨论做准备。 Activity 4 Listening for expressions Listen and complete the conversation. Write down expressions of making suggestions and giving responses. [设计意图]设空内容分别是提出建议和给出回应的语言表达，学生听完之后积累了相关语言，为后续编对话做准备。 Activity 5 Thinking Think about the question: In your opinion, which is better, giving people things, time, or money Why do you think so [设计意图]学生思考给予帮助的形式，探讨自己能够付出什么，提高学生帮助他人的意识。 Activity 6 Discussing and brainstorming Work in groups of 4 and discuss: What kinds of help do you think people need How do you think volunteers could help What kinds of skills and qualities could you offer as a volunteer [设计意图]学生分组讨论人们需要什么、可以给与什么样的帮助以及自身的技能和品质，为后续的对话做准备。 Activity 7 Making a conversation In groups, discuss where and how you can help. And then make a conversation. Where would it be possible for you and your group members to volunteer What kind of volunteer work could you do, based on your group’s skills and qualities. [设计意图]学生分组编对话，讨论自己可以做些什么来帮助有需要的人。在对话的过程中学以致用，练习了提建议和给回应的语言表达，同时提高了帮助他人的意识。 Activity 8 Concluding the lesson and assigning the homework Focus on the saying on the opening page. Assignment: Improve the dialogue you made and write it in your excersise book. Do volunteer work with your group members on weekends.
