Step two: Ask students to view the four pictures on page 30 and match the dishes to their English names. Check their answers. Step three: Guide students to introduce these dishes from three aspects: ingredients, cooking method and taste. Activity 2: Discussing the menu.(5min) Step one: Guide students to view the menu on page 30 and discuss the following questions. What kind of restaurant is it and what kinds of foods are served Which dishes would you recommend to a foreign visitor Why Step two: Ask four students to share their ideas. Activity 3: Listening for information.(15min) Step one: Listen and tick the dishes they ordered. Play the recording and ask students to finish Activity 3 on page 31. Step two: Listen and find out reasons for their ordering. Play part of the recording again and ask students to find out reasons for their ordering. Step three: Listen for important details. Play another part of the recording again and ask students to find out the differences between Sichuan cuisine and Hunan cuisine, and the reason why Hunan people like spicy food. Activity 4: Retelling(5min) Play the whole recording again and ask students to make a speech to share the experience of ordering food with foreign friends as Tingting. Activity 5: Role-play(9min) Step one: Guide students to review the expressions used to order food and pay the bill. Step two:Present a sample conversation, then ask students to role-play taking a foreign guest to a restaurant with the help of expressions in the book and some reading materials.
