教学过程
Activity 1: Building up your vocabulary: 1. Find the words from the previous class with the following prefixes or suffixes. 2. What do these prefixes and suffixes mean What are their functions [Designing purpose] This activity not only helps students reflect and review the vocabulary, but also encourage Ss to observe and conclude the meaning and function of prefixes and suffixes, laying a solid foundation for Ss’ building up vocabulary bank. In this activity, Ss’ learning strategies and thinking abilities of comparing, analyzing and reflecting are enhanced. 3. Fill in the blanks with the following phrases. 1). Many scientists ___________ the view that it is human activity that has caused global warming. 2). He was to__________ the accident because he drove on the wrong side of the road. 3). The man ________________being behind the robbery was seen crossing the street. 4). Since heart disease is often _________ our lifestyle choices, we need to make healthy living an important part of our lives. 4. Replace the underlined parts with suitable words from the box. 1). It is not unusual for an athlete to be well known while he is active, and quickly forgotten when his athletic career is over. 2). Complete the passage about medical science using the words below. British scientists believe they may have found a way to fight the common cold. Activity 3: Assessing your vocabulary Complete the news using the words learned. Like all of us, science has had a rough few years, for which the coronavirus ___________(应该受到责备). But researchers in ______(许多的) fields kept up their life‘s work. Australian researchers claim they’ve grown brain cells in a lab that __________________(可能学会了) play the vintage video game Pong. The “micro-brains” they created can sense and respond to their environment.
