Put the foods into different categories, and add more to each category. Think of more food categories and make your own word bank. In pairs, design a simple menu using the foods in your chart as ingredients, and talk about their flavours and features. What impressed me most was________because_______ I have learnt lots of useful vocabulary, such as ________ As for structures, I have learnt _____________________ I think________ is a useful strategy, which helps us ____ Now I can talk with my friends about ________________ I would like to learn more about ____________________ Sample writing This unit is about the relationship between food, society and the individual. Overall, I find this unit quite educational since it introduces Chinese cuisines as well as cuisines overseas. Especially for Chinese cuisines, the food in one area resembles something in other areas, but with a slightly different flavour. What impressed me most was a photo of a 1000-Person-Long-Table Banquet in the Miao Stockade Village of One Thousand Households in Leishan, Guizhou. It shows a tradition dating back over 1000 years and displays cultures in an ethnic minority village in the mountains of China.
