When you study abroad in France, you can expect to be treated the same as your native classmates, whether in a lecture or a discussion class.
While you can study abroad in France and concentrate on nearly any subject, it’s the students with a passion for the arts, architecture and history that rush to the country in the largest numbers. And that’s no shock, considering that France has been the center of the arts for centuries. As students of the arts, you will have to make careful use of your time, given all that France has to offer:
● Visit the Louvre to view the works of French artists such as Monet, Matisse and Renoir;
● Read the works of such French literary geniuses as Baudelaire, Proust and Voltaire;
● Listen to the music of Debussy, or more contemporary (当代的) artists like Air and Daft Punk.France is also a main destination for architecture students, as you will see architecture in nearly every style:
● The Gothic Chateau de Chambord, built in the 1500s;
● Place Dauphine built in 1607 in Baroque style;
● The post-modern housing development, Marne-la- Vallee.
History students will find that France has been where the action is for quite some time. Over the course of the centuries, it has been the stage for the most important developments in the history of mankind, including the French Revolution, the rise of Napoleon and the rise of the Fifth Republic under President Charles de Gaulle. It was also the site of the D-Day invasion (诺曼底登陆) of World War II.

When Amanda Lemay heard the story about a baker and her husband who were traveling around the United States in a van (厢式货车), learning from expert bakers, she wanted to do something similar. So she got rid of most of her possessions and made an old ambulance with her dad into a lovely home on wheels.
Lemay’s ambulance is actually a former emergency response vehicle for the US Navy, built on a 2006 Ford E350 Cutaway. Renovations (翻新) were done by her and her dad. Now the dark blue vehicle has a lot of built-in cabinets on all sides, offering a lot of storage space, while the roof top has 400-watts of solar power panels and a small roof deck where Lemay practices Yoga. The inside is tastefully done to suit Lemay’s work and hobbies.
As Lemay mentions, not only did her father help, but also the rest of her family. Lemay’s mother helped sew the decorations on the removable cushions, and her sister crafted the leather pulls. It was truly a family affair.
Her current nomadic (流浪式的) lifestyle fits well with her work doing audio books, voiceovers, and publishing work. In the end, this unexpected path has Lemay rethinking what it means to be truly sustainable (可持续的), now that van life has gotten her to become minutely aware of the water, electricity, and other daily resources that she uses. But all these day-to-day concerns are balanced with a greater sense of freedom.
“It’s almost mind-blowing, it feels like a completely different life because I’m doing the work online, and I can
do things on my own schedule. Most of my days are mine — so by living in the van. I can be where I want to be, and do the things I want to do, and spend time outside.”

27.What does Lemay like about living in a van
A.Reflecting on life. B.Forgetting all about work.
C.Living at her own pace. D.Being free from day-to-day concerns.

Everyone has “down days”. Maybe it’s because of the bad weather, or the disappointing grades on a difficult test, and some days teenagers just act uninterested in life or school. But these symptoms(症状) often pass quickly, as teens move on to new school subjects, or meet with friends to prevent themselves from thinking what troubles them at the moment. But if a teenager displays symptoms of sadness for more than two lasting weeks, it might point to something serious.
As teenagers develop, they push new boundaries(边界), complain about rules and look for more free rights from their parents. According to the online Health Guide on Adolescent Development, parents must be lasting figures in their teenagers’ life, providing safe boundaries for teens to grow, even if the teenagers act like these boundaries are unwanted.
Parents need to provide rules, while also remaining flexible(灵活的) and respectful of the growing teens’ need for freedom. For example, teenagers will often feel frustrated, embarrassed, and even angry that thought they want freedom, they still need to ask their parents for an agreement to go to a friend’s house, or need their mothers to take them to school.
The US Department of Education says that parents should respect and support their teen’s choices as long as those choices won’t have long-term harmful effects. For example, even if a parent doesn’t enjoy the music his or her teen listens to, it’s unlikely that the choice of music will prevent that teen from entering a good college, or lead to health problems. However, if that teen is drinking alcohol and driving, parents must get through strict punishments to
teach that there are bad results for poor choices that come with increased freedom.
28.Why do teen’s feelings of bad days usually disappear quickly
A.Their teachers help them.
B.They take some medicine.
C.Their parents talk with them.
D.They change their attention.
29.What does the example in paragraph 3 show
A.Freedom must be given at anytime.
B.Teens are mad at being controlled.
C.Teens need both freedom and proper rules.
D.Rules must be absolutely strict for teens.
30.What should parents do about their teens’ choices
A.Support their helpful hobbies. B.Tell them which college to attend.
C.Cancel their after-school activities. D.Get them away from singing pop songs.
31.What is the best title for the text
A.How to Be With Growing Teens
B.Causes of Teens’ Sadness
C.Teens’ Worries About Strict Rules
D.The Importance of Making Friends With Teens

It was a February afternoon in a Brooklyn classroom. Sixteen-year-old Taylor Engler came face to face with a cow. But it was all in her head. She was transported by a virtual reality (VR) headphone. It took the Berkeley Carroll School junior and eight other classmates to a northern New York farm. The farm was 250 miles away. For students, the technology means field trips are no longer kept within the length of a bus ride.
It's unknown how many classrooms have or will use the technology, but experts say few classrooms do or will do. Headphones that require a user's phone can cost as little as $20 or $30, but systems and software for classes run into thousands of dollars. The problem of not having good software is disappearing as more companies enter the market. But the rules for use haven't kept abreast of the development of the technology. In New York, for example, virtual reality lab experiments are not included in the state's hands-on lab time requirements.
Experts say science classes are where virtual reality holds promise for classrooms. “The biggest problem, I think, is going to be how closely it mimics the real world." That's according to David Evans, the director of the National Science Teachers Union. However, he said, “The ability to do dangerous things and to run many, many
more cases in a virtual space as opposed to the real physical space stands for a huge learning chance.”
Lamb taught chemistry and he agreed. “Too often in schools, when you do experiments in labs, you mix these together, you mix those together and you get this result. And if you don't get that result, you have done something wrong. But we don't have enough resources for you to redo it, “he said. “In virtual reality, all I do is hit reset on the computer. I don't have to actually use chemicals.”
32.What was Taylor Engler doing
A.Riding a bus. B.Giving a lesson. C.Designing a farm. D.Experiencing VR.
33.What does the underlined part “kept abreast of" in Paragraph 2 mean
A.Led to. B.Focused on. C.Caught up with. D.Broken away from.
34.What did Lamb think of the use of VR in the classroom
A.Helpful. B.Troublesome. C.Interesting. D.Challenging.
35.What is the purpose of the text
A.To point out the importance of practice. B.To introduce the use of VR in teaching.
C.To give information about modern schools. D.To show the appearance of VR technology.

How to take notes
Every student knows the importance of taking notes in class. 36 Adults (成年人) need to take notes in meetings or training courses for work. So here are some ways to help you develop this important skill.
Begin with the date and the topic of the class. This may seem obvious, but it’s easy to forget. 37
Focus on the most important points. Trying to write down everything the speaker says will only make you angry. 38
If the speaker uses a PowerPoint, you may not need to copy the slides. Ask if the PowerPoint will be available afterward. If so, you can focus on writing the things the speaker says instead. Or you can take a picture with a phone. 39 If so, print it out so you can write notes on it.
40 This will give you the chance to add any information that you didn’t write down. It’s best to do this as soon as possible, so that you don’t forget anything. This review will also increase your chances of remembering what you wrote.
Note-taking is a useful skill, so it’s important to practice doing it well.
A.Also, the PowerPoint may be available before the class or meeting.
B.Look over your notes again after taking them.
C.It will help you keep your notes organized.
D.Try your best to write down what you want to remember.
E.But the skill of note-taking isn’t only used in school.

An Honest Mistake
Alice double-checked the words on her spelling test. If she got 100 percent today, she’d win her class’s First-Quarter Spelling Challenge and a brand-new dictionary that came with videos and other cool stuff. Plus, Lisa had promised to do a handstand if anyone got a perfect score.
Three more words to go. n-i-c-e-l-y. q-u-i-c-k-l-y. h-o-n-s-t-y. Wait! She’d spelled “honesty”, not “honestly”! She hurriedly erased the t-y and wrote l-y before handing in her paper.
“I’ll correct and grade these test papers at the break”, said Lisa. Alice hurried into the classroom. She sat restlessly in her seat with her fingers crossed. Then Lisa walked to the front of the room and cleared her throat.
“Congratulations, Alice! You did it!” she announced. The whole class burst into applause! Lisa presented Alice with her prize. Alice grinned(咧嘴笑) as she read the label on the box: To Alice Carter, for her perfect first -quarter score in spelling.
“Is everything OK ” Mom asked as Alice burst through the front door after school. “Everything is perfect!” Alice shouted, showing Mom her spelling test paper and prize. Mom hugged her. “Put the test on the fridge so Dad can see it when he get home. And Casper, too. ” Alice scooped (抱起) up her cat. “Casper, can you spell nicely, quickly and honestly ” Alice’s heart missed a beat suddenly. “Honestly ” H-O-N-E-S-L-Y!
“Alice, what’s the matter ” said Mom. “I don’t feel so good,” Alice said, putting Casper down and stuffing the test paper into her backpack. “Probably too much excitement.” Mom rubbed her back. “How about some tea ” Alice swallowed, “How did you know A “t” is exactly what I needed.

34.推理判断题。根据最后一段“Lamb taught chemistry and he agreed. “Too often in schools, when you do experiments in labs, you mix these together, you mix those together and you get this result. And if you don't get that result, you have done something wrong. But we don't have enough resources for you to redo it, “he said. “In virtual reality, all I do is hit reset on the computer. I don't have to actually use chemicals.””(兰姆教化学。

故填to participate。
57.考查定语从句。句意:同上。分析句式结构可知,此处是非限定性定语从句,先行词the Qiongzhou Strait是物,且在从句中做主语,所以用关系代词which来引导非限定性定语从句。故填which。
58.考查副词。句意:2023年8月21日,这对双胞胎成功游过了琼州海峡,成为第一对完成游泳壮举的双胞胎。分析句式结构可知,此处用副词作状语修饰动词swam,所以用提示词的副词形式。故填successfully。
