The Qingming Scroll describes people's lives in Bianjing in the 12th century, including scenes of rural life, the riverbanks, the splendid central bridge and life inside the city. The painting shows people from all walks of life and the atmosphere appears to be one of peace and happiness. Zhang Zeduan uses ink on silk. He creates realistic images and displays a remarkable mastery of perspective.

These changes will help museum officials monitor and maintain tourist numbers better, thus protecting the exhibits from possible damage.
