教学过程
Activity 1: Reviewing: What are the essential qualities of a scientist [Designing purpose] This activity encourages Ss to reflect on what we have learned. In this activity, Ss’ existing knowledge is activated. Activity 2: Pre-watching Predict what you will see in the video [Designing purpose] Ss are encouraged to predict and sort out the categories of the given items. Activity 3: Watching for main ideas While watching, consider: 1) Is your prediction correct 2) Can you divide the video into parts What’s the main idea [Designing purpose] Ss are inspired to watch with questions, which helps them to locate specific information and grasp the main idea quickly. Activity 4: Watching for details 1. Watch the first part again and fill in the blanks. 1). Emily Ainsworth: “It’s part of human nature to __________ and to _________________ about the world.” 2). Juan Martinez: “It’s where you find _________, where you find new things, __________. 3). Lee Berger: “We think we know ________, but we don’t. We think we know __________, but we don’t. We think we understand __________, but we don’t.” 4). Catherine Workman: “____________ what’s out there, ____________ what’s out there.” 5). Cory Richards: “And if we have more to care about, then we engage more fully _________ and more fully __________, and we act – you know – ____________. 2. Can you conclude scientists’ reasons of exploration 3. Watch the second part again and match the following descriptions with the items mentioned. [Designing purpose] Ss are guided to watch and get specific information from the videos, during which Ss’ learning abilities of multi-channel learning is highly facilitated.
