2024年苏州中考英语试卷与往年维持不变。英语试卷由完形填空、阅读理解、信息还原、词汇运用、短文填空、阅读表达与书面表达七个版块组成。其中完形填空与短文填空部分的分值为10分，阅读理解部分的分值为30分，信息还原部分的分值为5分，词汇运用部分的分值为13分，阅读表达部分的分值为7分，书面表达部分的分值为25分。

苏州卷题型较多，完形填空相对简单。阅读方面从各个角度考察学生的阅读理解能力，题型为细节理解（占比重）、推理判断、词句猜测等。整体难度中等，但阅读量较大，题材面面俱到：本地相关的、传统文化、调查报告、虚构故事、社科新闻等，考生要扩大阅读面、提高阅读量。其中B篇阅读主题为传统文化，讲述了儒家思想中的传统美德，第15题与语文科学相结合考察学生的理解，体现了跨学科的链接。未来跨学科链接会更紧密，值得考生和老师关注。信息还原题个别语句设空不太明确，对于考生要求较高，应加强语篇上下文理解能力。词汇运用难度不大，多考察学生七八年级的词汇与词组，考生应重视基础和平时课堂学习。选词填空话题为神州15号，考生应多关注时事新闻，有助于对相关材料的理解。短文填空题题材讲述作者拜访苏州园林的经历，阅读表达是采访，讲述了为什么喜欢苏州和介绍快乐之家，作文话题如何让苏州更漂亮。提醒考生应多关注苏州本土新闻、本地传统文化等，积累相关苏州特色的素材，如相关词汇、句型等。

I am sure you know the story of the turtle (乌龟) and the rabbit. It taught people many lessons. One of these lessons is that people who have all the advantages (the fast-jumping rabbit) can be beaten by those who have nothing but inner (内心的) strength (the slow turtle).
It is true that the race of life, just like the one between the rabbit and the turtle, is often unfair. Some kids have all the luck. They were born healthy and their parents are rich. These kids wear nice clothes and always have much money to spend on anything they like. Many other kids, however, have none of these things. Some of them were even born with disabilities. They have to depend on their inner strength alone.
While many people believe the “rabbits” are always successful, this is not true. In fact, the “turtles”—kids from poor families—have some of the most. important things for success. They are humble (谦逊的) and determined (有决心的). They march forward slowly but with great inner strength.
A student from Tsinghua University shared his personal experience online. Instead of having fun with his classmates outside, he chose to get a part-time job and study hard. Some experts say that robots will take away human jobs with the rapid development of AI. A March 2023 report from Goldman Sachs showed that AI could do a quarter of the work done by humans. Across the European Union and the US, the report further notes that 300 million jobs could be lost to automation (自动化).
Thankfully, it’s not all bad news. The experts also add that there are still things AI cannot do. These tasks have clear human qualities (特征), like emotional intelligence (情商) and creative thinking.
“I think there are generally three kinds of jobs that are going to be safe,” says Martin Ford, writer of Rule of the Robots: How Artificial Intelligence Will Trans form Everything. “The first would be jobs that are creative enough to come up with new ideas and build something new.”
The second is jobs that require complicated interpersonal relationships. Ford points to nurses, businessmen and reporters. “These are jobs,” he says, “where you need a very deep understanding of people. I think it’ll be a long time before AI has the ability to interact (交流) in the kinds of ways that really build relationships.”
“The third safe one,” says Ford, “is jobs that really require lots of mobility (机动性) and dexterity (灵活性) and problem-solving ability in unpredictable environments. These are the kinds of jobs where you’re dealing with a new situation all the time, so they are probably the hardest of anything to automate.”
“It’s important to note,” says Ford, “that a higher education or a high-paying position is not a protection against AI takeover. In short, looking for roles in changing environments that include unpredictable tasks is a good way to stop jobs from being taken by AI. At least, for a while.”

I am 24, and during my short amount of years, I’ve had a few different jobs. I truly believe there is something to be learned at every new job you try.
My first job was at Eagle Boys pizza shop. My second job was in a hotel. A year later, I thought it might be time to try my hand at retail (零售). With Christmas on the way, I needed work badly as I was on a poor student budge. So when I noticed that one of my favorite stationery shops was seeking Christmas Casuals, I did not hesitate to put in my resume (简历). But my first few shifts really didn’t go well. Christmas is a busy time and things move very fast. My manager told me that I could ask her questions anytime I felt confused. There were four other Christmas Casuals, and it didn’t take me long to figure out that only one of us would still work there by the end of the season. I found it difficult to keep up with all of the new products coming in and could tell that my sales pitch (推销辞令) didn’t come across as smooth as some of my co-workers. Then, I was laid off right before the busy period. My manager said that it was because I was asking too many questions. However, I really appreciate this experience because it not only made me realize that my skills and abilities would not be suited to every different jobs, it also encouraged me to keep learning so that my abilities could be suited to more jobs.

Some experts say that robots will take away human jobs with the rapid development of AI. A March 2023 report from Goldman Sachs showed that AI could do a quarter of the work done by humans. I am 24, and during my short amount of years, I’ve had a few different jobs. I truly believe there is something to be learned at every new job you try.
