教学内容
教学重点： 让学生掌握新单词和重点句型 Learn to master new words and key sentence structure. 2. 学会根据所读内容整理表格信息 Learn to complete the charts according to the passage. 教学难点： 理解较长文章的大意，学会回答问题 Understand the general idea of a long article and learn to answer questions according to the passage. 2. 提高英语阅读理解能力 Improve the ability of reading comprehension.
教学过程
【新课导入】 Step 1:Lead-in Have a free talk: T:When is your birthday What do you do on your birthday Ss:I will have a birthday party./I will make a wish and blow out the candles. T:What do you eat on your birthday Ss:I will eat long noodles./I will cut up and eat a birthday cake./I will have the candy. 设计意图:通过和学生进行free talk，讨论他们生日做什么，吃什么，自然地过度到阅读文章，即询问他们是否想了解其他国家人们在生日时喜欢吃什么，导入流畅，并且一开始的free talk能够激发学生对本堂课的热情和思考。 【新知呈现】 Step 2:Fast-reading 1.Invite students to predict the main idea of the passage according to the title and picture in 2b.Provide three choices for them to choose. 设计意图:通过观察非文本信息，一般为标题，图片或者其他图标，来猜测概括文章大意，这是初中学生应该具备的阅读技巧和阅读习惯，有助于学生理解文章。 Let students read the passage quickly to find the main idea of each paragraph according to the topic sentence with key words,and also let students choose the structure of the passage. 设计意图:1.通过快速阅读找到主题句，从而得出每段的中心思想是初中学生所应具备的另一个阅读技巧与阅读能力。快速阅读可以提升他们的专注力同时也可以激发他们对文章的学习兴趣。2.分析文章结构也是初中学生所需要掌握的一个阅读技巧和阅读能力。了解文章结构可以让学生更好地了解文章的逻辑与含义。 【新知学习】 Step 3:Careful-reading This time,read the passage carefully paragraph by paragraph: First,read the first paragraph and answer the questions. (1)Is the birthday food the same or different in different countries (2)What the function of the first sentence 设计意图:学生回答第一个问题的同时也验证了对文章大意的猜想。另外猜测文章第一段第一句话的作用，可以激发他们的思维，同时也可以逐渐地让他们掌握英语写作的技巧，同时联系语文学科的写作，融会贯通，做到知识的迁移与运用，逐步提升综合素养。 2.Read the second paragraph,complete the charts below and answer the questions. (1)Chinese sometimes cut up the long noodles.(2)Long noodles mean long life in China.(3)Eggs are only a symbol of life. 设计意图:根据表格涉及的内容对文章筛选自己想要的信息并进行填充可以提高阅读速度和能力。在完整表格内容之后再通过问题的回答、判断正误、词义猜测等,学生可以学习到段落中的重难点单词，词组和句子，这样从语境中学习新的单词词组能让学生更好的理解与记忆。 4.Read the fourth paragraph and answer the question. (1)What does the underlined word“They”mean 设计意图:本环节设计的各种问题形式（多选题，判断正误，词义猜测等）能够帮助学生对文章形成整体理解。使学生了解不同国家的人过生日不同的饮食文化。同时在读懂文章的基础上才能正确回答问题。 【新知发散】 Step 4:Further-Thinking Ask students what people like to eat or do on their birthday in other countries,and show two examples to them. 设计意图:本文的标题是Birthday food around the world（世界各地的生日美食），因此此环节能让学生产生求知欲并且去了解除文章所提及的两个国家之外的人们是如何庆祝生日的，这可以激发学生对英语学科的兴趣，进而到达教学目标中的情感目标。 【新知总结】 Step 5:After-reading Retell the passage according to the mind map and express emotion knowledge from this passage: Complete the mind map first and emphasize the words and phrases in red:birthday cakes,blow out,in one go,come true,cut up,a symbol of,good luck,then retell the passage using the mind map. T:Boys and girls,all of these birthday foods may be different,but the ideas are the same.On this special day,parents and friends give us the love and the best wish,and we also wish our parents and friends happy and lucky!So guys,do you remember your parents’ birthdays Next time,we can buy a birthday cake and gifts for them! 设计意图:(1)思维导图的运用是初中英语学习需要掌握的一项重要技能，思维导图的创作和填充可以帮助学生梳理一堂课所学的主题内容和重点词汇，整合学习知识，化繁为简。并且能提高学生对信息的深入分析能力。(2)与此同时，通过复述文章还能帮助提高学生的记忆力，有利于学生对所学知识在大脑中的维持、对所学知识的理解能力的提升。(3)新课标强调对学生德育的培养，此环节强调了学生也应该记住父母的生日，在能力范围之内为父母庆祝生日，因为生日是非常美好的时机来表达我们对亲人的祝福与爱意。 【课后作业】 Step 6:Homework Writing a passage about what people like to eat on their birthday in other countries besides the UK,China,Korea and Russia. 设计意图:(1)探索其他国家的生日美食与活动，切合文章的主题和学习目标“around the world”，并且在写作中可以运用到本课时所学的重点词组与句型。（2）能激发学生对英语学科的喜爱，在搜集其他国家人们庆生的美食与活动时，学生们能具有初步的世界文化观念，了解更多的世界生日饮食文化与传统。 【教学反思】 本节课是阅读课，出现的生词较多，所以一开始在课件中加入多张清晰明了的图片搭配单词词组来帮助学生了解记忆，同时也在详细阅读过程中通过文本语境来强调复习重点单词词组，课下需要进一步落实。本节课主要介绍了英国和中国的生日食物与活动的不同，让学生了解中西文化的差异与相似，尽管生日美食与活动有差异，但心意都是相似的，人们希望在生日那天，给寿星以及亲近的人祝福与爱意。
