At first, Asad wanted to keep it a secret and punished Fahad. But soon ration came back,
dispelling his impulse of revenging, since he knew well from within that dishonesty was absolutely
against his principles. As a result, Asad picked the wallet up eventually, making the decision of
returning it to that unfriendly verbal bully. Under Fahad’s bewildered and hostile gaze, Asad
strode anxiously towards the previous direction. “Fahad, I guess this dropped purse yours,” said
Asad in a plain tone and meanwhile reached out his hand holding the wallet. Silence of amazement
fell upon the kids. No one knew how to respond except Fahad, who was crazily rummaging through
pockets for his belongings. Just seconds later he confirmed the wallet’s loss. Therefore subsequently,
Fahad retrieved the fortunately-found valuable from Asad despite guilt and embarrassment with a brief
but sincere “Thanks!”
Then Fahad said, “why are you giving it back ” Looking directly into Fahad’s eyes, Asad
boomed resolutely, “Because honesty is the premise of being an upright man. And it should always
happen whomever we’re faced with!” Shame crept onto Fahad’s mind right upon hearing Asad’s noble
words. How rude he’d ever been to Asad, his dear classmate, and how barren his moral world was
regarding the philosophy of life! Fahad couldn’t help embracing Asad with great gratitude,
apologizing at the meantime in the hope of gaining forgiveness. He then pulled out several notes from
the purse, thrusting them into Asad’s hands, showing care for Asad’s not-having-been-satisfied
stomach. From then on, the two built intimate friendship and for Fahad’s side he realized that honesty
was the ever most precious quality of a person because it would never let us down.
At first, Asad wanted to keep it a secret and punished Fahad. At least he could afford the lunch
now. However, another voice popped up, urging him to give it back to Fahad, which made him feel
torn. “I should never keep the wallet at the cost of my honesty, and Fahad would be extremely
embarrassed without any money in the presence of so many classmates!” Asad convinced himself.
Once he made up his mind, he accelerated his pace and caught him up. “Fahad, it’s your wallet and I
found it on the bench.” Taking over the wallet, Fahad stared into Asad’s eyes with a puzzled look
written on his face.
Then Fahad said, “Why are you giving it back ” He even looked into his wallet, obviously
doubtful about Asad’s act. Calmly and patiently, Asad explained, “I had originally wanted to keep it
secret as a punishment for your arrogance, but being honest matters more to me.” Hearing what Asad
had said, Fahad felt his face burning with shame. He bent, thanking Asad for saving him from the
embarrassing situation and apologizing to the classmates around for calling them losers. “And the lunch
is on me. You all are my friends!” Fahad announced.

Text 1
W: Our team’s meeting is at noon, followed by a lunch at a local restaurant. Please, bring all the files
and reports you’ll need.
M: I just need to finish this report. (1) Then, I’ll be ready.
W: OK, I’ve got my presentation done.
Text 2
M: It’s 9:00 a.m. Isn’t the museum supposed to open at this time
W: No, it opens an hour later and closes half an hour earlier on Saturdays. (2) Never mind. Let’s
go for a coffee while we wait.
Text 3
W: Seafood is a healthy source of natural fat. But some polluted oceans can cause fish to be unclean.
M: True. And having various foods is more important than we expected.
W: But finding inexpensive food matters the most for me — at least until I have more money! (3)
Text 4
M: Look what I’ve found when I was cleaning my desk today. Two football tickets!
W: Oh! Are those Forest Tiger tickets
M: Yes. The game starts in 30 minutes, so let’s finish our dinner quickly and make it a football
night! (4)
Text 5
W: Every nation has its own heroes. Examples of this include George Washington in America,
South African President Nelson Mandela and Chinese Chairman Mao.
M: In my opinion, anyone who once played a significant role in changing the history of their
country for the better is indeed a hero. (5)
M: Morning, Sally. Did you have a good weekend
W: Yes, I did. I went to the new show of modern art at the museum with my husband.
M: Oh, my family went to that as well. Isn’t it great There’s a nice special cafe in there as well,
where they show pictures by local artists. (7)
W: We also went in there. I thought some of the local artists were as good as the professionals.
M: Me too. Their paintings were for sale as well.
W: We bought two pictures, although they were a little expensive for me.
W: Thanks, Andrew. It’s good that our sales are holding up well. But we have to think of the future —
which is self-driving. Colin, what progress have we made on our self-driving cars
M: We have bought good maps from Google which the cars can follow, (9) and we made progress
on the car’s battery and wheels. But our cars still can’t avoid blocks 100% correctly.
W: They need to be perfect.
M: Of course, and that is a problem. The human brain is well-developed and can make decisions
quickly and smartly. But the car’s brain doesn’t work that way. (10)
W: What do you mean
M: For example, what should a car do if it has to choose between hitting a person or crashing Which
decision does it make for the better

M: Hi, Miss, do you have a moment to talk about the history of this park (11)
W: Sure. Are you with the Mexican history department (11)
M: Yes, but only to donate my time to help our government protect the old buildings and parks.
(11) Now, we want to make sure the park is protected from damage, and we’ll call for more support
on social media.
W: Great idea. It must be difficult to protect it from storms and earthquakes.
M: Luckily, it’s strong enough to survive the disasters. The real issue is thousands of tourists visiting
every day. (12) We’re hoping to pass rules against visitors walking and climbing on these valuable
remains of the old buildings in the park.
W: Right on! I wish I had some money to donate. Is there a form for supporters that I can sign (13)
M: Absolutely. (13)
Text 9
W: Good morning, Jack. (15) (16) How are you today

Text 10
Thanks, everyone. I’m Sam Anderson. (19) I’m so thankful for being part of this student body.
Students in our school come from different cultures and different backgrounds. (17) It has been a
definite advantage for us to exchange ideas and cultures easily. That also made us outstanding and
different to other schools. (17) However, at Singapore International School, we have decreasing
scores in science, math, and writing — subjects in which we once led the nation. So, it’s a question for
the student body and teaching staff. Our biggest issue is the decreased funding for school materials
and facilities. Without modern technology and updated textbooks, there’s no wonder that our
student body is falling behind. (18) As your student body president, I promise to bring back school
fundraisers, car wash events, and school clothing sales. Anything we can do to increase the money
available for our school will aid in our success and improvement. Thanks my friends, and remember
to pick Sam Anderson for a richer future. (19) Next, please welcome Mr. Shang from the
geography department back to the stage, (20) followed by a few closing words from our head
teacher, Ms. Hsu.

A 篇 21.C 22.A 23.B
Travelers can expert to see the Northern Lights from
Late August to April.
根据 Orkney, Scotland 部分的“The Kirkwall Hotel:Starts at $86 per room per night”
故选 A。
B 26. B 27. A
Xu’s passion for mountaineering was motivated by her father,
who himself reached many peaks, including Qomolangma.”
She went to the mountains in Yunnan and Sichuan every month,
climbing peaks over 5,000 meters and doing daily physical exercises like running, swimming and rope
skipping. All that hard work got her ready for the challenges she would face on Kilimanjaro.
She was climbing with Xia Boyu (aged 74), the first Chinese
climber to summit Mount Qomolangma with an artificial leg, who’d inspired Xu a lot’’”可知 A 正确,
The whole climb took 7 days, during which Xu faced unpredictable weather
such as rain and strong wind’”可知 C 正确,根据文章第三段中“Xu had to be very sensitive to any
temperature changes and adjust her clothing accordingly’”可知 D 正确, 根据文章第三段中“Above
4000 meters on Mount Kilimanjaro, the climate is similar to a desert, with big temperature differences”
Xu Zhuoyan, a 17-year-old mountaineer who’d
stood on top of Mount Kilimanjaro last May, climbed onto the tallest peak in Africa, making herself the
youngest Chinese girl that conquered it.
{#{QQABDQQUggioAIAAARgCQQ0gCEAQkACCCCoOBAAIsAIBiBFABAA=}#}
In the summer of 2019, Tomas Quinones was undertaking a
“bikepacking” trip, covering some remote desert in Southern Oregon.”
The odds are, if you’ve spent any time in wild, you’ll have
experienced these gestures of kindness from strangers or given them yourself too as Quinones did. So
what is it about being outside in nature that makes people want to help others.
According to the “bystander effect”, the more people who are in the
presence of someone needing help, the less likely any of those are to actually provide it.
When we get into the wild, we become vulnerable. And being in an
easily-hurt position makes us look at the world differently. So, in the wild, where we are removed of
normal possessions, surroundings and identities, we seem more willing to go the extra mile for
someone. It’s in nature, ironically, that we can learn new things about humanity.
A 33. D 34. A 35. C
根据第二段“the average number of children a woman has over her lifetime — has
decreased to 0.78 in 2022.”以及第三段“Despite aggressive efforts, South Korea’s fertility rate is on
course to sink further to 0.65 by 2025。”
故选 A。
Whether financial bonus can have a positive impact on
More importantly, South Korea’s male-dominated corporate culture

has to fundamentally change in favor of working women,” he said. “Korean women will start having
more babies if they don’t have to sacrifice their career for it.”
Nearly 50% South Korean companies
punished workers using parental leave, especially on promotions, according to Labor Ministry statistics.
故选 A。
Corporate South Korea
七选五 36.D 37.A 38.G 39.F 40.E
At minimum, you should jump for joy when told they've landed a dream job, for
example.
Even if you truly want to see them succeed, the ultra-modern
three-bedroom house they just bought might feel like a slap in the face if you're still living in a shoebox
apartment. So, if you're struggling with friendship envy, these suggestions might help you.
Jealousy sounds quite negative, but it' s completely normal. If you shame yourself
for it, you might miss an opportunity for self-reflection. Instead of judging yourself, acknowledge these
feelings head-on. Embrace that you're bitter or even scared you'll never experience a career high like
your bestie.
故选 A。
38.根据段落小标题“Separate your worth from your accomplishments.
But it's important to remember that your self-worth doesn't come from attaining
external things.
It makes sense that a friend's success may feel like a threat.
When they're excelling in their life, you must be falling behind in yours, right The simple answer: No!

on facts and reality rather than hypothetical scenarios or assumptions.
It's totally okay to experience occasional waves of envy even
with the people you genuinely want to see happy. What truly defines you as a friend is how you handle
these emotions. If you need a little space to lick your wounds after receiving a close pal's exciting news,
just do it.
