BBC Young Reporter Competition
If you are 11-18 years old, tell us about a story you think the BBC should be reporting.
What is the BBC Young Reporter Competition
It is a yearly opportunity for 11-to 18-year-olds across the UK to submit（提交） an original story idea to the BBC. BBC Young Reporter Competition winners will have the chance to tell their story on TV, radio, online or on social media with the help of BBC journalists, producers and program makers. We are not looking for finished reports but entries should just be an outline（概述） of a story idea. This can be submitted as a written description or videos.
Entries will be judged in two age categories: 11–15 and 16–18. There is one entry category: Me and My World. Entries should be an original and true story about your life, or the world you live in. It could be about your own identity or experience that influences you or your community. You need to show how your report on this story can reflect the wider situation. Entries will only be considered when submitted via the online mechanism（机制）. No other method of entry is permitted (this includes email or post).
Judging process
Stories will be judged on editorial merit（优点）—that means the strength of the story, originality, and the personal story or background related to it. Judges will be looking for 40 winning stories from across the UK. Judges include editor s from across the BBC as well as presenters and reporters. Stories will not be broadcast until all the judging is completed and the winners are announced in June.

55-year-old Rob Kenney, who grew up without a father, has been doing his part to make a difference in the lives of kids today.
He created a YouTube channel, called Dad, How Do I, which aims to give youths the valuable lessons a father is meant to give. Launched only two months ago, his channel already has more than two million subscribers（订阅者）. Rob teaches children and adults, many of whom are also without a dad, basic skills such as how to tie a tie, how to cook meals, how to repair a lamp and many more.
"I didn't start this to make money," Rob told his viewers. "I just thought I was going to help a few people... 30 or 40 subscribers... but it's turned into a way more than that. And please don't think I am only aiming this at young men. It is for anybody who feels that they need to learn something."
Now that his channel has had such huge unexpected success, Rob plans to give his earnings to a number of international charities.
Many viewers have been touched by the warm words Rob shares in his videos. Such simple words, like "I love you", "You've done a good job" and "I'm proud of you," can have a deep impact on many children, even some adults. He starts each video with an enthusiastic "Hey, kids!" —but Keiha Danaher said that she was a 33-year-old woman, and she answered back crying, saying, "Hi, dad!"
Rob's childhood story makes him a role for the kids who watch his channel. By the age of 14, his parents had divorced. He had to move in with his elder brother and learn from the tough life experiences without parents in his life. But that didn't prevent him from being a good father to his children. His experience shows his viewers that there is always opportunity in the face of difficulties.

Most parents will remember their little ones grasping their leg or being unwilling to speak to someone new. But when does this stop being a natural part of a child's growing up and become something to worry about
Here, Heidi Gazelle, a senior lecturer in developmental psychology from the University of Melbourne, explains how shyness is of more concern if it is persistent（持续的） rather than temporary.
Shyness with other children is of more concern than shyness with adults. It is common for children to be on the alert for adults, particularly men, but less common for children around their own age.
Children who engage in very little social interaction in comparison to children of their age are missing out on these important cumulative（积累的） learning experiences. As a result, their social cognition（认知）, social skills and sense of self may be less mature than those of other children around their age.
Being excluded and bullied is damaging children's emotional health and sense of self, especially when these conditions persist over time. Children need help from adults to stop exclusion and being bullied by other children. When parents become aware that their child is being excluded or bullied by other children at a childcare center or a school, they should contact the childcare center or school on their child's behalf.
Shyness is of concern if it interferes with your child's or family's routines or activities, or if your child often appears miserable or complains of being lonely. For instance, if shyness prevents your child from attending other children's birthday parties or school, or prevents your family from visiting friends, then you should consider seeking help from a child psychologist.
If a child is upset about a problem with a friend, parents can encourage the child to try to resolve the problem in a way that preserves the friendship, instead of ending the friendship, as well as encourage the child to develop other friendships.

Greece has criticized the United Kingdom for canceling （取消） a planned meeting between Prime Minister KyriakosMitsotakis and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, apparently so that Sunak could avoid talking about ancient artefacts（历史文物）that Greece says were taken illegally. Mitsotakis and Sunak were set to meet on Tuesday, but Sunak canceled it on Monday, reportedly after learning that Mitsotakis planned to talk about the Parthenon sculptures.
The UK government initially believed Mitsotakis would not talk about the sculptures, which are now in the British Museum. The sculptures were once part of the Parthenon in the Greek capital Athens. The row（纠纷） became more serious after Mitsotakis told the BBC on Sunday the UK's offer to store some of the sculptures in London and some in Athens was akin to cutting the Mona Lisa in two. He also said the sculptures had been essentially stolen.
Mitsotakis said he was deeply disappointed by the ab rupt cancellation of the meeting. "Those who firmly believe in the correctness and justice of their positions are never hesitant toengage in constructive argument and debate," he was quoted by The Associated Press as saying. The BBC reported that sources in the Greek government were puzzled and annoyed by the meeting cancellation.
Greece has long criticized the way in which the Parthenon sculptures ended up in London, after they were bought by British diplomat Lord Elgin and shipped to the UK between 1801 and 1804. Because the two nations disagree on the legality of the deal and have firm positions, they have tended to avoid talking about the issue during high-level diplomatic meetings.
The UK's Transport Secretary Mark Harper said on the BBC's Breakfast program on Tuesday that it was regretful that the prime ministers would not meet during Mitsotakis' UK visit. He said Mitsotakis had been offered the chance to meet instead the UK's deputy prime minister, Oliver Dowden, but he had refused the meeting. "The views of Greece on the Parthenon sculptures are well known," Mitsotakis was quoted by The Guardian as saying. "I had hoped to have the opportunity to discuss them with UK Prime Minister along with other international challenges." The UK's opposition Labour Party criticized Sunak for canceling the meeting and said his behavior appeared disrespectful.

You can have it while waiting for your mother," said Nancy. Hearing this, the boy took the chocolate and smiled, saying "Thank you".
