This online concert is absolutely fantastic. It features various music styles, ranging from classical music to pop music. The theme of the concert is traditional culture of China and the UK. I think the concert is of high quality, which absolutely is a feast for both eyes and ears. It impressed me deeply. Not only did I enjoy the pleasure of listening to music, but also I had a better understanding of the culture of both countries. I hope our school can provide more opportunities for us to communicate with and learn from each other.

I told her I thought African Americans were haughty. Why did they sideline us When we met in a narrow passage and our eyes met, they quickly looked aside before we greeted. Why Weren’t we all black (我们吵了起来,我告诉她,我认为非裔美国人很haughty。为什么把我们排挤在一边?当我们在一条狭窄的通道里相遇时,我们的目光相遇,他们在我们打招呼之前迅速地向一边看了看,为什么?我们不都是黑人吗?)”可知,在作者看来,非洲裔美国人排斥他人,与他们相遇时,目转向他处这都是高傲的表现。由此可知,划线词意为“傲慢的”。A. kind-hearted 热心的;B. modest 谦虚的;C. fashionable 时尚的;D. proud 骄傲的。故选D。

I told her I thought African Americans were haughty. Why did they sideline us When we met in a narrow passage and our eyes met, they quickly looked aside before we greeted. Why Weren’t we all black

由文最后一段“Researchers said the technology could someday help people with paralysis to communicate. It might also help scientists understand dreams or even how other animals see the world.”(研究人员表示,这项技术有朝一日可以帮助瘫痪患者进行交流。

Thank you for listening to my presentation on Dolly Parton today. I’m not using a PowerPoint, so you might want to take a few notes because I’m going to tell you some interesting things. Let’s start with her background. Yes, many country singers start out from poor backgrounds, but Dolly Parton’s family was so poor that when she was born, her father paid the doctor with a bag of corn. She loved singing, but when she was asked to sing on a local TV show, her mean classmates locked her in the classroom so she would miss her chance. She moved to Nashville after high school and got a job writing songs, though she is most recognized for her performance skills now. Being famous hasn’t always been easy, of course. Even if she changes her hair and clothing style, people always recognize her voice. But unlike some stars, she has kept close to her home. She started a business in the poor city where she was born, and she also started a program that gives free books to poor children. If this information sounds too strange to be true, you should look it up and read about this interesting country singer yourself. I hope you’ll all be inspired by knowing more about her life story.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Welcome. Now let me introduce my hometown to you. I hope you will enjoy the beautiful countryside with me as you guide.
My hometown is a very ordinary place, no different from any other small town in the area. There are about two thousand people living here, many of whom go to the big cities to do odd jobs. What then makes this place a famous resort You can find the answer in the beautiful scenery in the countryside. It is a place where you can see many tall trees, where wide roads run alongside big farms, and where a big river flows. You can see a lot of ducks on the river’s white sheet of water which opens out into a big bay by the sea.
Every morning, we jog, enjoy the fresh air and meet our neighbors on the roads. People who are fond of walking their pets will also be found along the roads in the morning, often in groups, talking pleasantly to their friends and neighbors. You can also see people involved in other recreation activities such as playing badminton, dancing and flying kites.
Besides these, some experts say there are many valuable minerals under the ground. They predict if some day we begin to mine our countryside, we will become richer and richer by exporting the minerals to other countries. I think many countries are bound to begin using these minerals soon.

M: So, you are from the UK What is it like living in London
W: I don’t live in London. I live in Manchester.
M: Oh, I always think British people come from London.
W: No, I’ve only been to London three times in my life. I would be a tourist there like you. London is in the south.
M: So where is Manchester
W: It’s in the north of England. So are Liverpool, Leeds, York and several other cities. In the middle are two cities: Birmingham and Coventry.
M: But the UK is small. Are those places different from each other
W: They each have their own character. British people may look the same and dress the same, but there are lots of different accents.
M: Why so many
W: Well, the UK consists of four different countries ---- England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Plus, there are local accents, left over from the days when people didn’t travel very much.

Recently my friend invited me to her residential hall, which is an African-American themed hall. They have lots of meetings and outings there. So I thought it would be fun. On this particular day they were having a pancake breakfast, just a time to mix. I was excited to be there, too.
I walked in at a time when the mini-party was at its peak. I found my friend; excitedly, we hugged and she led me to a seat in the back. We sat there for some time. I sensed some sort of discrimination. I wondered, were we just isolating ourselves or were we facing discrimination
My friend’s breakfast came in first, and it was a plate full of colors. My mouth watered. I have always liked rainbow dishes: they make me hungry. She let me pick pancakes and fruit; we ate and only then began to talk.
The black American contemporary music was extremely loud. Some boys and girls were beating the tables and some guys on the stage were dancing in what looked like a kind of competition.
We talked about various subjects: hair, boys, shoes and books. And then we got to it. “What do African Americans think of Africans ”
We argued. I told her I thought African Americans were haughty. Why did they sideline us When we met in a narrow passage and our eyes met, they quickly looked aside before we greeted. Why Weren’t we all black I mean, wasn’t this exactly the reason why there was an African-American themed house to begin with
Did they look down upon us because they grew up in America and we in Sub-Saharan Africa Oh yes, I felt this was it! They believed that we were HIV-positive and that the giraffes were right behind our huts.
My friend uttered, “No!” And then she continued:
“I also thought so at one point but after living with these guys, I got to a different conclusion altogether. These guys are not from Africa. They were not born there and may have never been there. We can’t expect them to naturally like us or bond. We are different. Skin color is the skin color.”

Have you ever wanted to see your dreams after you woke up Artificial intelligence (AI) technology may help you do this in the near future!
Researchers from Osaka University in Japan have trained an AI system to recreate images in people’s heads. The pictures AI has created include a teddy bear, an airplane and a clock tower. The technology is 80 percent accurate, reported Science magazine.
Previously there have been AI models that can turn a word or phrase into images. The AI has studied lots of images and their text descriptions. Over time, the AI can find patterns and recreate pictures if you first input text.
This time, the researchers took a step further. They trained the AI to link people’s brain scan data with images. They asked four people to look at 10, 000 different images, and let the AI find patterns of blood flow in the brain. Then the patterns can be related to the images.
If people looked at an airplane, the AI would use the brain scan data to create an image of a very cloudy airplane. Then, it would turn on the previous “text - to - image” model. By feeding the keyword “airplane”, the AI would improve the image and make it more real.
“It’s a new method that combines textual and visual information to ‘decipher the brain’”, Ariel Goldstein from Princeton University told Science magazine.
Researchers said the technology could someday help people with paralysis to communicate. It might also help scientists understand dreams or even how other animals see the world.
31.What do we know about the AI system mentioned in Paragraph 2
A.It can help train people’s minds. B.It can fully present people’s dreams.
C.It was created for drawing people’s heads. D.It can recreate pictures in people’s heads.
32.How did the previous AI models turn phrases into images
A.By understanding the meaning of the words.
B.By finding patterns in images and their text descriptions.
C.By drawing pictures according to users’ orders.
D.By finding different photos from the internet.
33.What is the working process of the new AI system
A.relate with image→scan blood flow→improve the text→turn into the image
B.relate with image→turn into text→scan blood flow→improve the image
C.scan blood flow→relate with image→turn into text→improve the image
D.scan blood flow→turn into text→relate with image→improve the image
34.What is the last paragraph mainly about
A.How to know the way animals see the world.
B.How people with paralysis talk with others.
C.What the new AI technology could be used for.
D.How AI technology affects people’s dreams,
35.Which part of a newspaper may this text appear
