Around the world, there are more than 90 million teachers! They play a big part in helping children learn, grow and do well in life. On World Teachers’ Day, the fifth day of the tenth month every year, we say thanks to teachers for all the hard work they do.
Education is a human right, and every child should have free education, but unluckily millions of children in the world are not in school. Most of those children live in places where life is difficult—some live in poor areas or far away from cities and towns, or for some there is war in their countries.
One of the reasons that so many children can't go to school is that there aren't enough teachers worldwide. To make sure every child can go to school by 2030, we'll need another 69million teachers in the world.

My Special Story in School
Hello, I'm Li Ming, a Grade 9 student in China. I'd like to share a special story with you.
I remember that it was a Friday afternoon in Grade 7. On that day, we had a sports meeting in our school playground. I took part in the 100-meter race and I was sure I could win. However, I was so nervous that I fell down to the ground. I felt much pain as my knee was bleeding. Then my classmates and teacher came to me. I felt really sorry for not winning the race. But they didn't blame me. Instead, they told me not to worry about the race.
I'll never forget the race as I'm loved by people around me.
