What is the meaning of healthy lifestyle Ss: look at the pictures and give their opinions.Intention: Introduce the topic and get them familiar with the topic.Step2 Lead-in (4mins)T: let Ss talk about the questions about habits and then watch a short video and brainstorm more effective ways to break the bad habit.Ss: talk bout bad habits they know and then watch the video carefully and write the good habits in the video.Intention: Motivate their learning by asking some simple questions; arouse students’ interest and help them learn about some good habits.Step3 Pre-reading (3min)T: ask them to look at the title and key words to predict the main idea, and find out the target readers and genre of this text.Ss: have a look at the title and the key words of first and the last paragraph.Intention: Help students find out key words and promote their reading expectationStep4 Fast reading (5min)T: ask Ss scan the passage and match the main idea with each paragraph; require them to figure out the framework of an Exposition.Ss: scan the passage quickly and find out the topic sentence of each paragraph and then outline its basic structure.Intention:Train students’ scanning and thinking abilities;further their understandingof this passage.Step5 Careful reading (15mins)T: ask students to read each paragraph carefully and complex related tasks.Para1. find out the reason of changing a bad habit and preventing method.Para2-3. illustrate the example of the habit circle by filling the blanks.Para.4-5 find out the solutions of changing bad habits.Para. 6 explain the meaning of “magic pill” or delete button and figure out its part of speech.Ss: read the paragraph one by one carefully and finish corresponding tasks designed for each paragraph.Intention: In this process, several teaching aims could be achieved. Then come up with an idea of how to break the bad habit.Ss: discuss with their partner about their bad habits in their daily life and think about how to change it.Intention: Consolidate the knowledge that they have learned.Summary (2mins) :Ss: ask students to complete the mind-map, and then learn two proverbs about good habits.Proverb1: Being healthy and living a healthy lifestyle have always been very important to me.
