Thanks for coming to this short presentation (介绍会) about the Central Language School in Hanford.
First of all, let me tell you where the language school is. Most people arrive in the city by train, and the station is in the city center. It’s about half an hour’s walk from there to the main university, and the Central Language School can be found just next door. There are buses if you don’t like the walk and it only takes about 10 minutes.
Because Hanford is a university city, there’s plenty of student accommodation (住处). A large number of university students rent (租借) houses which they share with friends. Most language students, however, stay with a host family, where meals are provided and there’s a chance to practice language skills.
As for free time activities, the school doesn’t have tennis courts (球场) or anything like that. There’s a public park opposite, though, where students can use the football field without having to pay.
Some students like to spend their free time in the school library. It has a collection of books that can be used on-site, but not taken away. There’s also a collection of English-language films on DVD, which students can watch on-site or borrow overnight. Besides, students get an hour’s free use of the Internet each day. The library has also got a lot of magazines, but daily newspapers are not provided.

You may have heard about the woman who spent a year living on just a pound a day. But in Germany, a woman named Heidemarie Schwermer has given up using money completely. Her decision probably has something to do with her experience as a penniless refugee ( 身无分文的难民) during the Second World War (WWII).
After the war, she led an ordinary life. She worked as a teacher for many years, and then she became a psychotherapist ( 心理治疗师). But her memories of what it was like to have nothing stayed with her and she decided to do something about it. She came up with the idea of an exchange network which allowed people to exchange things and services without using money. Even though the program turned into a great success, she wanted to do something crazier. So she made the decision to leave her home and close her bank account (账户). At first her daughters thought their mother had made an awful mistake. But gradually, they have gotten used to her unusual lifestyle.
Heidemarie sleeps on people’s sofas and wears second-hand clothes people don’t need anymore. Shops give her food they can’t sell, and she knows she could always go to a soup kitchen (a place where food is offered to the hungry for free or at a very low price).
People are interested in learning more about Heidemarie’s experiences, so she has written several books about her life. She has given away the money she made — often to complete strangers.

C. They partly agreed with it. D. They thought it was wrong.
( )31. Which paragraph describes Heidemarie’s unusual lifestyle
A. Paragraph 1. B. Paragraph 2. C. Paragraph 3. D. Paragraph 4.

Around the world, support is growing for electric cars. Car makers are producing more electric cars at lower prices. Some European countries plan to be all-electric by 2040 or sooner. However, there are a lot of difficulties, and one of them is: If customers buy electric cars, where will they charge (给……充电) them
Public charging stations are not built evenly (均匀地) around the world. Places with lots of support from governments, like China and the Netherlands, have thousands of public charging stations. But in many places, there are not many public chargers. That’s a problem for people who need to drive further than 200 miles or so.
This situation worries many potential (潜在的) electric car owners.“If I can’t charge, there’s no way for me to choose an electric car,” says Solie, who works far from his home.
Mr. Romano, the CEO of ChargePoint, says workplaces should have around 2.5 chargers for every employee (雇员) and stores need one for every 20 electric cars. Highways need one every 50 to 75 miles, he says.
Luckily, car makers and governments are trying to close the gap. The number of chargers grew by 72 percent to more than 322,000 last year, the International Energy Agency says. BMW, Daimler, Volkswagen, and Ford are building 400 fast-charging stations in Europe.
( )32. What can we learn about the Netherlands
A. It has the most electric cars in Europe. B. Its public charge stations are large in number.
C. It plans to have its cars all-electric in the future. D. Its car makers hope to enter the Chinese market.
( )33. Solie doesn’t choose an electric car because ______.
A. he can’t afford it B. he can’t drive C. he has little interest in it D. he worries about the charging
( )34. What do Mr. Romano’s words suggest
A. There is a great need for chargers. B. Car makers need more employees.
C. The government should take action. D. Electric cars are becoming more popular.
( )35. What do the underlined words “close the gap” in the last paragraph mean
拉开差距 B. 弥补不足 C. 封闭交易 D. 寻求差异

One possible version:
As the saying goes, health is wealth. When you have your health, you have everything. When you don’t have it, nothing else matters at all. But some of us don’t care about our health. For example, some of us don’t have enough sleep so we feel sleepy in class; some of us are weak because we don’t have healthy eating habits; some of us exercise less so we’re becoming stressed.
It’s time for us to do something to keep healthy. First, we should go to bed early and get up early. Second, we should eat a balanced diet and stay away from junk food. Next, we should exercise for at least one hour every day. Also, think of nice things when you are in trouble.
