One day in July when I was completely well again, I went exploring on the isolated island. I walked along the coast until I got to a small river. Then I followed it across the island. The land on both sides of the river was very pleasant. It was flat and green and many different plants were growing there. I looked for things to eat, but I didn’t find anything. The next day I decided to go further. I was curious to see more of the green valley. I walked for many hours and finally I arrived in a place with many trees. I could see oranges and lemons on them. I also saw grapes and melons too.
“The north side of the island is better than the south,” I thought. “There are lots of things to eat. The weather is better here too. I chose the bad side for my house. ”
I didn’t go home that night. I slept in a tree and continued exploring the next morning. Before I left that place, I filled my pockets with fruit.
I must come back with bags and get some more, I thought. “But I must hurry because the wet season starts in August. ”
I made several more trips during the following weeks and took back as much fruit as I could. While I was there, I built a small tent to sleep in.
It rained more or less every day between the middle of August and the middle of October and I had to stay inside. But when the weather changed, I often went to my country house. There were lots of small animals in the woods and turtles on the beach, so I was never without meat. I also discovered that turtle eggs were very good to eat too. I dried some of the meat in the sun and kept it for the wet season. I dried the grapes too. They were very good and I usually kept some in my pockets.
One day when I was standing on the top of a hill, I saw land in the distance. Was it the mainland or an island I asked myself Another day I caught a parrot with colourful feathers and took it home with me. I called it Poll and I taught it to speak. The first word it learnt to say was its name. Then I taught it to say “Robinson”. That was my name. It was strange to hear another voice after so many months. Poll was very good company (同伴) and almost never left my side. But I couldn’t wait to think about the home with my dad and mum sometimes.
During the wet months I taught myself to make bowls for my food. Later I learnt how to make pots for cooking.

Oceans cover two-thirds of our Earth. There are five main oceans which all flow into each other: the Arctic Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and the Southern Ocean.
What are the Layers of the Ocean
Oceans are made of five layers or depths. Each layer has different characteristics (特点), such as the temperature and the amount of light. They have unique creatures (独特的生物) living within them.
The Sunlight Zone-up to 200m below the surface of the ocean
There is plenty of sunlight and heat in this zone although both decrease (减少) as you go deeper. There are many different living things within this layer, including seaweed, dolphins, fish, and coral reefs. Humans enjoy this warm layer for activities such as swimming and fishing.
The Twilight Zone-up to 1,000m below the surface of the ocean
Only weak sunlight reaches this deeper layer. No plants grow within this layer. It is home to sea animals which often have large eyes, including the sea cucumber, the wolf eel, the swordfish and the octopus. Humans can dive to this layer wearing protective suits.
The Midnight Zone-up to 4,000m below the surface of the ocean
The Midnight Zone is pitch-black because sunlight cannot reach this layer. Some light can be seen from creatures that make their own light, such as anglerfish, jelly fish and viperfish.
Abyss-up to 6,000m below the surface of the ocean
The sunlight cannot reach this layer at all, so it is pitch-black and near freezing. Very few creatures live here, but those that do are mainly transparent (透明的), blind invertebrates (无脊椎动物), such as lanternfish, squid and amphipod.
The Trenches-up to 11,000m below the surface of the ocean

Reading fluency (流畅) means the ability to read quickly, smoothly, easily, and with the right expression. Children who are fluent readers make their reading sound like talking. Do you want to be fluent readers like them Here are some tips that can help you become a better reader.
17 It is easier to read and study if you are comfortable. Make sure that there is good lighting in your reading area and that you are sitting in a comfortable chair. To make it easier to give all your attention, try to read in a place where you won’t be interrupted (打扰).
Don’t worry about understanding every word. Sometimes, as readers, we think we must understand the meaning of everything we read. 18 Instead of translating the new word into your first language, first try to guess the meaning. The other words around the new word may help you guess the meaning.
Read in phrases rather than word by word. Don’t point at each word while you read. When you read word by word, you’re not reading on the level of ideas. You need to read on some level that allows things to come together to form ideas themselves. 19
Avoid sub-vocalization (默读). Sub-vocalization means quietly saying the words as you read. 20 Your eyes and brain can read much faster than you can speak. If you sub-vocalize, you can only read as fast as you can say the words. Practice reading without moving your mouths.
A.Look for a good place to read. B.You might be saying the words quietly in your mind. C.So practice reading in this ways—groups of words that go together.
The Trenches are narrow, underwater valleys of the ocean floor which have high pressure and near-freezing temperature. There is no natural light in this zone, but different creatures can be found, such as sea stars.

D.Keep the habit of writing down good sentences when you are reading. E.But it isn’t always necessary to understand every word to understand the meaning.
