Wang, who has twice won the Plum Performance Award — China’s top award for theater and opera performances-started to learn the traditional art form in 1977.Born with a melodic voice, Wang loved to sing and dance when she was little. She performed frequently, and was recruited by the Suzhou Kunqu Opera Troupe (剧团) when she was in middle school. However, her parents refused the troupe’s invitation, insisting that she should concentrate on her studies and not drop out of school. After members of the troupe visited the parents repeatedly and showed great sincerity,Wang’s parents finally agreed.Learning the traditional art form was never easy. She started to learn how to pronounce words, sing them lyrically and make gestures gently. As an actress playing martial artists roles at first, she had to spend extra time practicing kung fu movements. Years later, Wang used the word “unimaginable” to describe how hard the days were when she first learned Kunqu. She was soaked in sweat when practicing movements in summer, while in winter she often had chilblains (冻疮) on her hands when training in shabby classrooms with broken windows. “But I was young and determined at the time. No matter how difficult, I always got up early the next morning to practice,” Wang recalls.Wang says she did not love Kunqu at first, but in her early 20s,when she watched the show Peony Pavilion performed by Zhang Jiqing, a master of the art form, it clicked. “I was shocked,” Wang says. “Her every movement was full of elegance and delicacy. Each of her lines and songs was perfect. I was overwhelmed by the beauty of Kunqu for the first time in my life, and it has stayed with me since.” Now, Wang has herself become a master of Kunqu. Her performances have impressed generations and helped to promote the art form among young people.4. Why did Wang’s parents turn down the troupe’s invitation at first A. They didn’t think Wang had artistic talent.B. They saw no future in learning Kunqu Opera.C. They didn’t want Wang to ignore her studies.D. They regarded members of the troupe as insincere.5. What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us A. Wang has made great efforts to learn Kunqu well.B. Artists should be given more attention and care.C. Traditional culture needs to be further promoted.D. Wang has played a key role in the development of Kunqu.6 What changed Wang’s attitude towards Kunqu Opera A. Winning the Plum Performance Award.B. Joining the Suzhou Kunqu Opera Troupe.C. Watching Zhang’s masterly performance.D. Being greatly admired by the audience.7. What does Wang’s story show us A. It is never too late to learn. B. Rome was not built in a day.C. Doing is better than saying. D. Don’t judge a book by its cover.【答案】4. C 5. A 6. C 7. 第二段“She performed frequently, and was recruited by the Suzhou Kunqu Opera Troupe (剧团) when she was in middle school. However, her parents refused the troupe’s invitation, insisting that she should concentrate on her studies and not drop out of school.”(在中学时,她经常参加表演,并被苏州昆曲剧团录取。 根据第三段开头“Learning the traditional art form was never easy.”(学习传统艺术从来都不容易。)以及该段倒数第三句“She was soaked in sweat when practicing movements in summer, while in winter she often had chilblains (冻疮) on her hands when training in shabby classrooms with broken windows.”(在练习动作时,她夏天练到衣服湿透,冬天冻得手上常长冻疮。 故选A项。 最后一段“Wang says she did not love Kunqu at first, but in her early 20s,when she watched the show Peony Pavilion performed by Zhang Jiqing, a master of the art form, it clicked.”(王说她最初不喜欢昆曲,在看到张继青表演的《牡丹亭》之后,她被深深震撼,爱上了昆曲。) 根据第三段最后一句王芳说的话“No matter how difficult, I always got up early the next morning to practice,”(无论有多难,我第二天早上总是早早地起床练习。) CWhen learning a foreign language, most people fall back on traditional ways: reading, writing, listening and repeating. But Brian Mathias’ research team found out that if you gesture (做手势) with your arms while studying, you can remember the vocabulary better, even months later. As Mathias describes they had 22 German-speaking adults learn a total of 90 invented words over four days. While the test subjects first heard the new vocabulary, they were shown a video of a person making a gesture that matched the meaning of the word. When the word was repeated, the subjects performed the gesture themselves. Five months later, they were asked to translate the vocabulary they had learned into German. Those who performed better on the task showed a higher level of activity in their motor cortex—the part of the brain that is responsible for our body movements. The researchers concluded that the motor cortex contributed to the translation of the vocabulary learned with gestures. The effect did not occur when the subjects were only presented with matching pictures instead of gestures.Another research group led by Leipzig had young adults and eight-year-old children listen to new vocabulary for five days, paired with matching pictures or videos of gestures. After two months, the two methods were still tied. But after six months, the adults benefited more from the gestures than the pictures, while the children were helped equally by both. But it is not only the motor cortex itself that promotes learning. The meaning expressed by the gesture also figures in, “I think we underuse gesture in our classrooms,” Goldin-Meadow says. “Good teachers and good listeners use it, but not always in a systematic way. Others don’t necessarily bring it into the class —and it could be used more often and more effectively.”8. What do we know according to Brian Mathias research A. Those only presented with matching pictures performed better.B. The motor cortex had nothing to do with the vocabulary learning.C. The research concluded that gestures benefited vocabulary learning.D. 22 German-speaking adults and children were chosen as the test subjects.9. What does Leipzig’s research tell us about language learning A. Adults and children are equally good learners.B. Pictures have little influence on language learning.C. Pictures are found more helpful than videos for children.D. Benefits of gestures are more obvious in adults in the long run.10. What do the underlined words “figures in” in the last paragraph mean A. Makes a deal. B. Plays a part. C. Takes a chance. D. Makes a proposal.11. What does the author suggest teachers do in the classroom A. Make better use of gestures. B. Teach listening in a systematic way.C. Don’t use traditional teaching approaches. D. Do some scientific researches on teaching.【答案】8. C 9. D 10. B 11. 根据第一段中“But Brian Mathias’ research team found out that if you gesture with your arms while studying, you can remember the vocabulary better, even months later. (但Brian Mathias的研究小组发现,如果你在学习时用手臂做手势,你可以更好地记住词汇,甚至几个月后也能记住。)”可知,手势有助于词汇学习。故选C。【9题详解】细节理解题。根据第三段中“After two months, the two methods were still tied. But after six months, the adults benefited more from the gestures than the pictures, while the children were helped equally by both. (两个月后,这两种方法仍然不分伯仲。但六个月后,成年人从手势中获得的好处要多于图片,而孩子们从这两种手势中得到的帮助是一样的。)”可知,从长远来看,手势的好处在成年人中更为明显。故选D。【10题详解】词句猜测题。根据最后一段“But it is not only the motor component itself that promotes learning. The meaning conveyed by the gesture also figures in. (但促进学习的不仅仅是运动部件本身。手势所传达的含义也 figures in。)”以及其中的“not only”和“also”可推知,第二句在语义上是第一句的递进,手势所传达的含义也发挥作用。A. Makes a deal达成协议;B. Plays a part发挥作用;C. Takes a chance碰碰运气;D. Makes a proposal提出建议。 根据最后一段“ The meaning expressed by the gesture also figures in, “I think we underuse gesture in our classrooms,” Goldin-Meadow says. “Good teachers and good listeners use it, but not always in a systematic way. Others don’t necessarily bring it into the class —and it could be used more often and more effectively.” (手势所表达的意思也很重要,Goldin-Meadow说:“我认为我们在课堂上没有充分使用手势。”“好的老师和好的听众使用它,但并不总是以系统的方式。其他人不一定把它带到课堂上,可以更频繁、更有效地使用它。”)”可知,教师应在课堂更好地使用手势。故选A。DAs we face climate (气候) change, a new digital tool helps develop carbon-free energy without damaging the wildlife habitats. In Maine, the Renewable Energy Siting Tool is a new map that allows the clean energy developers to identify the sites for solar and wind projects while avoiding those with sensitive wildlife habitats. Sarah Haggerty, the lead developer, notes that the tool came into being thanks to the data provided by Maine’s Department of Environmental Protection, state biologists, clean energy developers, as well as economic support from the bank.Based on data on land-use, habitats, energy resources (资源), etc., the tool uses a traffic light model to identify sites suitable for development and sites to avoid. Fields like landfills are shown in green, wetland areas or endangered species habitats are shown in red, while yellow-shown areas indicate that closer examination of project impacts is necessary. The tool was developed after Maine passed a law requiring that 80% of Maine’s electricity come from renewable resources by 2030. Haggerty says, “We are in urgent need of this tool to help us fight climate change in a way that reduces impact on our valuable natural resources.”Maine is the most forested state in the nation, and agriculture, natural resources, and nature tourism play important roles in its economy. Yet the state is among the top five in losing its farmland to development. It makes little sense to develop clean energy projects at the cost of farmland. When developers announce a clean energy project, they often face disagreement from community members who are concerned about the loss of valuable farmland or the impact on wildlife. This can discourage investors (投资者) and slow the change to renewable energy. Luckily, this tool can help developers speed up the development of clean energy by quickly identifying suitable land. Clean energy development needn’t come at the cost of wildlife.12. What is the function of the new tool A. To protect Maine’s renewable resources. B. To apply clean energy to wildlife habitats.C. To improve the effective use of clean energy. D. To balance clean energy and wildlife habitats.13. What is the second paragraph mainly about A. How the new tool is inspired. B. How the new tool works.C. How the new tool is developed. D. How the new tool collects data.14. Which word best describes Haggerty’s attitude to the new tool A. Indifferent. B. Neutral. C. Positive. D. critical.15. What can be a suitable title for the text A. Renewable energy is in great need.B. To protect wildlife is to protect ourselves.C. Traffic lights is of great use to wildlife protection.D. A tool helps develop renewable energy and protect wildlife.【答案】12. D 13. B 14. C 15. My students had a range of challenges, from mild learning disabilities to severe palsy (瘫痪).Mark was one with severe palsy. Restricted (限制) to a wheelchair, he had to fight his spasms (痉挛) just to control his movements. However, he always had a positive attitude and greeted everyone each morning with a huge smile. His classmates loved him and always took the time to make sure he was included in group activities, especially Mike, Andy and Lucas, three boys who were good at sports. In my heart I knew Mark wanted to be like them, unrestricted by the limitations of his body, and watching the grace with which they moved on the playing field seemed to fill him with wonder. He never missed their competitions and always cheered for them. Seeing Mike, Andy and Lucas passing the finish line, Mark looked extremely excited. When track and field day came, Mike, Andy and Lucas placed well in their heats (预赛), and gave the normally peaceful crowd something to cheer about. Mark sat on the sidelines, cheering them on, and placing last in his own heat because his wheelchair wouldn’t go fast enough. The final event of the day was the 400-meter race. Everyone was invited to either walk or run, according to their ability, around the entire length of the track. We watched as the students took off—Mike, Andy and Lucas determined to prove who the best player was.But when the three exhausted runners reached the finish line, they stopped and turned to look behind them. At the back of the crowd, determined not to be left behind, was Mark. His classmates had passed him by and even the slowest walkers were outdistancing him. Mark was alone on the track with over half the distance left to finish.___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Mark was moved to see his three friends come back and run with him.___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________【答案】范文:Mark was alone on the track with over half the distance left to finish. Mike, Andy and Lucas looked at each other, and a silent thought passed among them. They nodded to each other and turned around together. They jogged back towards their friend Mark and slowly enfolded him in a tight circle and kept pace, cheering him on as he had done for them moments before. Seeing what they did, the whole field was boiling. All the audience stood up and cheered for the four friends.Mark was moved to see his three friends come back and run with him. He had never imagined that they could run with him on the track. The progress was slow, but in the end the three-star runners and Mark crossed the finish line together to the enthusiastic cries of their teachers and classmates. Seeing the smile on Mark’s face, I came to understand what makes the Special Olympics and the determined athletes who compete so extraordinary. Years later, I still remember the day. That’s not just because of the competition, but because of the warm friendship between Mark and his friends.【解析】【导语】本文以人物为线索展开,讲述了作者的得了大脑性麻痹症的学生Mark很渴望像其他的学生一样行动,尽管身体残疾,但是Mark非常乐观,在运动会上其他的同学陪伴着他跑完了全程。 词汇激活行为类①围住:enfold/surround②给某人加油:cheer sb. on/encourage sb.③想象:imagine/visualize情绪类①热情的:enthusiastic/passionate②坚定的:determined/resolute【点睛】【高分句型1】They jogged back towards their friend Mark and slowly enfolded him in a tight circle and kept pace, cheering him on as he had done for them moments before.(运用了现在分词cheering作状语、as引导方式状语从句)【高分句型2】Seeing what they did, the whole field was boiling.(运用了现在分词Seeing作状语、what引导宾语从句)【高分句型3】He had never imagined that they could run with him on the track.(运用了that引导宾语从句)听力 1—5 ABCCB 6—10 CCBAC 11—15 BACBA 16—20 BABAC昆明第一中学2023-2024学年度下学期期中考试高一英语总分:150分 时间:120分钟第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分)第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分)听下面5段对话。 1 What does the woman want to do A. Wang has played a key role in the development of Kunqu.6. What changed Wang’s attitude towards Kunqu Opera A. D. Don’t judge a book by its cover.CWhen learning a foreign language, most people fall back on traditional ways: reading, writing, listening and repeating. But Brian Mathias’ research team found out that if you gesture (做手势) with your arms while studying, you can remember the vocabulary better, even months later. As Mathias describes, they had 22 German-speaking adults learn a total of 90 invented words over four days. Benefits of gestures are more obvious in adults in the long run.10 What do the underlined words “figures in” in the last paragraph mean A Makes a deal. B. Plays a part. C. Takes a chance. D. Makes a proposal.11. What does the author suggest teachers do in the classroom A. Make better use of gestures. B. Teach listening in a systematic way.C. Don’t use traditional teaching approaches. D. Do some scientific researches on teaching.DAs we face climate (气候) change, a new digital tool helps develop carbon-free energy without damaging the wildlife habitats. D. How the new tool collects data.14 Which word best describes Haggerty’s attitude to the new tool A. Indifferent. B. Neutral. C. Positive. D. critical.15. What can be a suitable title for the text A. Renewable energy is in great need.B. To protect wildlife is to protect ourselves.C. Traffic lights is of great use to wildlife protection.D. A tool helps develop renewable energy and protect wildlife. It’s common to see a barista (咖啡师) create coffee art, but it’s different from doing the same thing with tea. Mark was alone on the track with over half the distance left to finish.___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Mark was moved to see his three friends come back and run with him.___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________听力 1—5 ABCCB 6—10 CCBAC 11—15 BACBA 16—20 BABAC 展开更多......
