Language study. 【What】 There are three dialogues in the audio, which show three different contexts: street interview, daily communication and guided tour. Conversation 1 takes place at the "Coming of Age" festival in Japan, where a foreign journalist is interviewing a young Japanese woman who has just participated in the "Bar Mitzvah" ceremony, asking her about her feelings and the subsequent celebration. Conversation 2 took place between two good friends, Li Mei, a Chinese girl experiencing Rio Carnival for the first time, and her foreign friend Carla, who was clearly more experienced, kindly offering her advice on how to dress so that she could participate in the festivities to her heart's content. Conversation 3 takes place in China, where a Chinese guide takes a group of foreign tourists to a lantern festival decorated with lights and introduces them to the Chinese customs of the Lantern Festival. 【Why】 All three dialogues are authentic and natural, with a strong sense of life, cleverly incorporating cultural elements of each festival. The text of the dialogues is also infiltrated with the target language structure of this unit - the use of the verb form as the definite article and the epithet - so as to help students perceive and experience the language in a real and reasonable context, and to prepare for the subsequent concentration on the language structure. The purpose is to let students perceive and experience the language in a realistic and reasonable context, and to pave the way for subsequent focused study of the language structure. 【How】 The three dialogues are full of strong atmosphere of life and the unique cultural elements of the festivals. For example, in Japan, most women wear colorful traditional kimonos for the "Adult Festival"; in Rio Carnival, most people dress lightly to adapt to the hot climate and long parades and dances; in the Chinese Lantern Festival, people eat "Yuanxiao", which represents reunion and happiness.By the end of the class, Ss will be able to: master some expressions about the festivals through a guessing game based on clues from the text (lantern, Carnival, costume, dress (sb.) up, march, congratulation, congratulate, riddle, ceremony, samba, make-up, after all); gain a basic knowledge of the origin and significance of the world’s several important festivals and what people do for celebrations; figure out the speakers’ relationship by focusing on key expressions and intonation; tell the gist of the conversations through some key words and expressions carry out a conversation on their favourite festival and how people celebrate it.教学设计:Teaching Procedures教学步骤 Teaching Activities教学活动 Design Purpose设计意图 Assessment学习效果评价Part1: Lead-in Drumming up Ss’ interest in festivals and celebrations.
