Guide: The main reason was to protect their part
of the country. As you can see, it’s quite tall and wide. As far as I know, there are no other man-made objects as big as this.

1. population
population意为“人口数量”，谓语动词要用单数形式。询问人口数量时要用“What’s the population of ... ”提问，而不用how many或how much等提问。表示人口“多”要用large 或 big；表示人口“少”要用small。

为合成形容词，意为“人造的”。英语中像这样与-made复合而成的形容词还有：handmade(手工制作的)、homemade (家庭制作的)、machine-made (机制的)等，用以描述产品的生产或制造手段、特点等。

as far as I know是一个固定的表达方式，还可以
说so far as I know，意思是“据我所知”。

much higher 意为“高得多”。在形容比较级前还可以用much, even, a little, still ,a lot, less等修饰词表示程度。
