1. Yeah, but I may be a little late. (教材P50 2d)
may是情态动词，后接动词原形。
（1）may在本句中表示推测，意为“也许；可能”。
eg：—Is Mike in the classroom 迈克在教室里吗？
—I’m not sure. He may be in the library. 我不确定。他可能在图书馆。
（2）may还可以表示允许或征求对方许可，意为“可以”。
eg：—May I come in, sir 先生，我可以进来吗？
—Of course. 当然。
【易混辨析】may be与 maybe
may be may是情态动词， be是动词原形，两者构成完整的谓语形式，意为“也许是；可能是”。
maybe 是副词，意为“也许；可能”，在句中作状语，常位于句首。
eg：I can’t find my book in the schoolbag. It may be in my drawer.
我在书包里没有找到我的书，它可能在我的抽屉里。
Maybe she will come this afternoon. 她可能今天下午来。

1）a little 在此处作状语，意为“一点”，可修饰形容词或副词，表示程度，与a bit同义。
eg：It’s a little hot today. 今天有点儿热。
The question is a little difficult. 这个问题有点难。
2）a little还可作定语，意为“一点；少量”，修饰不可数名词。
eg：He drinks a little milk every day. 他每天喝一点牛奶。
