Analysis of the teaching material: This unit is about buying things on the Internet. By learning this unit, students need to know how to read the new words about shopping and buying in English, learn to use new sentences to ask and answer in conversation. Such a topic is related to students’ daily life and they are very familiar with it. The shopping is also very easy to arouse students’ learning interests. Teacher can attach students’ attention and reach teaching aims by Asking Questions about daily life and Playing Games and so on. Analysis of the students:The students are from grade 7.The English level of the students is uneven. Most of them have poor foundation. So they have no interest and no confident in learning English. But some of them can receive new knowledge quickly. So teacher needs to make a better teaching plan, add more interesting ideas to the lesson, attach students’ attentions and improve their self-confidence. At the same time, teacher needs to offer more group-work opportunities in class, allowing the students to help each other. Teaching Objectives: After class, students should be able to 1.Knowledge objective Read and spell the key vocabulary: advantage, anyone, compare, product, receive, several, safe, pay, post, etc. 2.Ability objective Use the key structure: can/ can’t+v. to talk about shopping on the Internet. 3.Emotion objective Share with others with their own experience of shopping on the Internet. Important points:How to use the key structure can/ can’t.+v. to talk about doing something. Difficult points:How to use the new words and key structure can/ can’t.+v. to describe your own experiences. Teaching Method: Communicative Approach, Task-based Language Teaching Teaching Aids: Multi-media, PPT,blackboard.
Teaching Procedures Time Learning and teaching methods Aids Purpose
Step 1. lead-in 3' Ss answer the questions. Enjoy these pictures and get some information about shopping on the Internet. Ask questions. (Have you or your parents/friends ever been shopping on the Internet Do you like shopping on the Internet And why ) Show some pictures and data about the Double-eleven. Lead into the topic of this unit. Multi-media, PPT To draw Ss’ attention and focus on the lesson and introduce some information to Ss.
Step 2. Vocabulary learning 7' Ss learn the new words by themselves. Try their best to read. Find out the words they feel difficult, studying with their deskmate, and following to him. Study new words together. Do the competition. Boys and girls read the new words and make a comparison which side is louder. Give several minutes to Ss studying the new words. Find out words which some Ss are difficult on pronunciation, and ask other Ss to help each other. Ask all Ss have a try. Read all together. Find out the wrong pronunciation and help Ss. Play a game--competition. PPT To achieve the knowledge aims as well as making Ss study words in a new style, helping each other and training Ss’ study ability.
Step 3. Pre-reading 2' Work in pairs. Answer the questions. Show A1 questions to Ss. Ask Ss share their own opinion. PPT To let Ss think, share his opinion and help them solve the barrier of the further reading comprehension of the language.
Step 4. Fast reading 8' Global reading. Ss read the passage quickly and then do the exercise. Find out the can/can’t+v. sentences. One S of each group tell T one can/can’t+v. sentence. Others read it following the student. Study the new structure. Look at the book P28-29. Give Ss 2mins to check the ture sentences in the Activity 2. Check the answer. Ask Ss find out the can/can’t+v. sentences. Ask some Ss to tell us one can/can’t+v. sentence. Summary the leaning point. Write down on the Bb. Mult- media, blackboard To get some information and learn about the main idea as well as finding the main point of this unit. To study the important and difficult points as well as training Ss’ independent thinking and group learning.
Step 5. Careful reading 17' Ss read each part of this passage. Pay attention to learn about the will can/can’t+v. sentences. Work in group for four people to discuss and answer the question. Discussion. Finish the Activity 3. Ask Ss to read each part. Pay attention the will sentences and can/can’t+v. Study each part of the passage and find out the topic sentence of each paragraph. Ask Ss to finish Activity 3. Then ask some Ss share their opinions. Check the answer. PPT, To make Ss study the reading skills and consolidate the important point.
Step 6. Summary 2' Review the new words and important structure.. Ask Ss what they have learned today. PPT To review the knowledge point and consolidate.
Step 7. Homework 1' Group work for doing a questionnaire about buying thing on the Internet good or bad. Teacher gives some homework about writing to Ss. Ending this class. PPT To train the Ss’ writing skills and review the key sentences.
Teaching Reflection In this class, I use Communicative Approach that encourages Ss to talk and practice more so that can cultivate Ss’ ability to communicate properly in a certain social environment .Task-Based Teaching Approach helps Ss learn by doing,and the topic is close to the Ss’ daily life and encourages them to exress their feelings in real situations.
