Wearable technology has changed how we play, communicate, and track (跟踪) our health. Although it has many useful purposes, the wearable technology of tomorrow promises to be even more surprising.
Eyeglasses, an invention of the 13th century, are considered the world’s earliest wearable technology. Modern wearable technology started to appear around 2008 with the introduction of fitness trackers (健身追踪器). This form of wearable technology tracks things like your heart rate and counts your steps. Smartwatches came out several years later. Besides doing the same things as fitness trackers, they also show you text messages and allow you to make calls. Nowadays, you can even buy smart clothing. Some of them, for example, vibrate (振动) whenever your exercise form is incorrect.
Wearable technology has other uses, too. It allows people to play video games on devices (设备) like VR headsets (耳机). And people in the medical industry have developed implantable (可移植的) devices. One example is a pill that sends health information from inside your’ stomach to a smartphone.
Today’s wearable technology may be interesting, but the future of wearable technology will be more exciting, such as self-powered shoes. Scientists are developing smart shoes. They will use your body as a power source. They come with batteries (电池) that can store the energy from your walking. Walking in these shoes would be like having a power bank on your feet that charges with every step you take.
Old wearable technology like glasses has helped countless people see better. Today, things like fitness trackers are changing how we understand our bodies. This makes you wonder: in what ways will future wearable technology improve our lives

For young people who grow up in villages, a job in the city sounds good. But Ning Fenfang, 34, left the big city to be a farmer.
In 2017, she left her job in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, and went back to her hometown of Cili County in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province. At that time, much of the farmland there was deserted. Seeing this, Ning decided to be a farmer. She started with growing rice and rapeseed (油菜籽) in 2020. She rented (租) her land and hired villagers to work it.
Ning now farms more than 66.7 hectares of land. More than 300 housewives have worked part-time on her land.
“It’s never easy, ”said Ning, who was elected (选举) as a deputy to the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) in 2023.
At first, her decision to become a farmer confused (使困惑) many. Farming is often seen as an “unsuitable” job for both the post-90s generation and women in general. Also, she didn’t have enough farming knowledge. However, Ning loved farming.
“When you’re tired, you can stop and rest and do what you want to do. Everyday, you can embrace (拥抱) nature, which is the poetry and far afield (诗和远方) that many people hope for, Ning told the People’s Courts News and Communication Agency.
Ning has tried to turn farming into a “trendy” job. Rather than depending on farmers, she embraces mechanized farming, such as using harvesters and cultivators (耕田机). She also plans to make use of agricultural tourism in Zhangjiajie so that children living in cities can experience farming.
Being elected as an NPC deputy has inspired Ning to feel responsible for farmers. During the two sessions (两会), Ning suggested including greenhouses in agricultural insurance plans, as recent freezing rains hit her hometown and caused losses to farmers.

Last weekend, I went to the city park with my classmates. When we got there, we were amazed that there were different kinds of rubbish on the ground. We felt very sad about that. The city is our home, so we should try our best to keep the city clean.
First of all, we should protect our environment. Don’t throw rubbish around or spit anywhere. We’d better plant more trees to make the air clean. Second, we are supposed to be friendly and helpful to others. Third, we ought to obey the traffic rules. Don’t ride too fast or play on the street. Last but not least, remember to save energy.

①Around the world, people are more and more worried about the environment. Many people now prefer products and companies (公司) that care about the earth and cause less pollution. This need for green products has led large companies to change their business.
②Before, customers used cheap plastic bags, and then threw them away. But now most supermarkets and stores usually provide reusable shopping bags for them. This causes less waste. They also offer more local products, because less energy is needed for carrying them from one place to another.

Both kinds of cars have another advantage—they are cheaper to run and people don’t need to worry about oil prices.
④The airline companies face an even greater green challenge. Airplanes use much more oil than cars. So many airlines are now developing planes that can run on some other kinds of oil. They create less pollution and cost less. The companies are also developing a new kind of planes, and some of them use only solar panels (太阳能板) to fly!
⑤Green businesses used to be popular with only a small group of people. But now, more and more companies have to show they care about the environment.

The horse-face skirt, or mamianqun in Chinese, holds a very special position in China’s traditional clothing culture. This skirt can give us a taste of the beauty of ancient Chinese clothing.
In the General History of Chinese Clothing, the horse-face skirt is described as follows, “There are folds on both sides. The skirt door and back are decorated with patterns, and there is the skirt waist and lace (花边) upon it.”
The horse-face skirt first appeared in the Song Dynasty. It grew popular during the Ming Dynasty, from the royal family to common people. The horse-face skirt in the Ming Dynasty was simple in color and pattern. In the Qing Dynasty, the horse-face skirt gradually became elegant (精美的). The colors and patterns became more and more colorful, especially the outer skirt door. People added many good symbolic patterns to the outer skirt door, such as flowers, birds and butterflies.
Besides, this overlapping (重叠的) design leaves openings in the front and back of the skirt, making it very suitable for horse-riding.
In the eyes of experts and people in the fashion industry, the horse-face skirt is one of the representatives (代表) of traditional Chinese clothing. It is an important symbol of Chinese civilization. It has also influenced Western fashion for many years.
