①Qomolangma, also known as Mount Everest, is the highest mountain in the world. It’s a part of Himalayas. In1975, Chinese scientists measured(测量) that Mount Oomolangma was 8848.13 meters high. In 2005, another group of Chinese researchers found the height of Qomolangma was 8844.43 meters. Later in December 2020, a Chinese survey team re-measured it and got the latest number 8848.86. And we know the height of the mountain can change all the time. That's why scientists never stop setting out to the top of the mountain for the further study.
②In fact, measuring the height of Qomolangma is more than just getting one exact number. Mount Qomolangma is at the point where the Eurasian plate(欧亚板块) meets the Indian plate. It formed from an ocean 38 million years ago as the two plates hit each other. Changes in the height can show whether the two plates are heading toward or away from each other. This can help us understand the movement of the earth's crust(地壳). The survey team will also get first-hand information about environmental conditions at the top of the mountain. This will help us know more about the climate changes on the Oinghai-Tibet Plateau(高原).

Reading has become part of our life. It can open up our minds and make us relaxed. What's more, we can improve our writing skills if we read more good books.
Many students have difficulty in reading. Some students don't like reading,because they think it is boring. Some students have no time to read. They think reading is a waste of time. In my opinion, we can learn a lot of interesting things from books as long as we keep reading. We can read anywhere, such as in the library, in the park and at home.
