二、内容简述
（一）何谓“时态”
动词的时态（Tense）主要用来表达同一动作在不同时间发生，及其持续的时间长短。
“时态”中的“时”是指“时间（Time）”，英语中的时间主要分为现在（Present）、过去（Past）和将来（Future）三种。在国内的英语教学中，还有一种时间，即“过去将来（Past Future）”。
“时态”中的“态”是指“形态（Aspect）”，也被称为“体”，英语中动词的体主要分为一般体（Simple）、进行体（Continuous）、完成体（Perfect）和完成进行体（Perfect continuous）。
由以上4种不同的时间和4种不同的体，生成了英语中的16种时态，如下表：
在上海的中小学英语教学大纲中，需要掌握以下10种时态的用法：
小学阶段：现在进行时、一般现在时、一般过去时、一般将来时
初中阶段：过去进行时、现在完成时、过去完成时、过去将来时
高中阶段：现在完成进行时、将来进行时
【注】
小学阶段需掌握4种时态，初中阶段需掌握8种时态（小学4种+初中4种），高中阶段需掌握10种时态（初中8种+高中2种）。
（二）现在进行时
1、构成方式
该时态下，动词的形式是：am/is/are doing。其中，am/is/are是助动词，doing是现在分词。
2、基本用法
1）表此刻正在进行的动作，如：
He is reading in the library now.
他现在正在图书馆看书。
2）表将来，此时的动词一般是趋向动词（如come、go、leave、arrive等），如：
He is going to see his grandpa tomorrow.
他明天打算去看望他的祖父。
3）表习惯，此时常与频率副词连用，如：
He is always helping others.
他总是乐于助人。
3、标志词
1）now，如：
They are working in the garden now.
它们现在正在花园里干活。
2）at the moment，如：
They are swimming in the sea at the moment.
他们此刻正在海里游泳。
3）Look或Listen用作提示语，如：
Look! They are waiting at the stop.
看！他们正等在车站呢。
Listen! Someone is crying next door.
听！有人在隔壁哭呢。
4）上下文，如：
- Where are they
- 他们在哪呢？
- They are having a meeting.
- 他们在开会。
4、现在分词的变化规则
1）直接+ing，如：working, playing
2）去e+ing（该动词以不发音的e结尾），如：writing, making
3）双写最后一个辅音字母+ing（该动词以重读闭音节结尾），如：stopping, beginning
4）不规则变化，如：die - dying; panic - panicking
5、句型变化
原句：I am having some coffee at the school cafe now.
否定句：I am not having any coffee at the school cafe now.
一般疑问句及其回答：
- Are you having any coffee at the school cafe now
- Yes, I am.
- No, I'm not.
划线部分提问：
What are you doing at the school cafe now
6、特殊情况
be going to do经常被当作将来时，其实它是现在进行时，用来表将来，且强调的是主观打算，且短时间就会发生的事情。如：
We are going to leave Shanghai for Beijing this afternoon.
我们打算今天下午离开上海去北京。
My father is going to see me next week.
我父亲下周要来看我。
