Passage A
Imagine that you have woken up on the first day of your vacation. You enjoy a delicious breakfast, take a walk on the beach and read the morning newspaper. You are feeling happy and relaxed. But you may start to feel bored by the time the late afternoon comes around!
If you have ever felt like this, you're not alone. It turns out that having unlimited(无限的)free time is not always as great as we expected. What is the best amount of free time for our happiness
Researchers tried to answer this question by surveying tens of thousands of people, collecting
data(数据) on how they spent their time and how happy they were. After looking at the data, the research team found that having less than two hours of free time a day is not enough to be happy. People who have less than two hours of free time a day usually have more stress. It means that they are simply too busy with work to get their happiness.
The fact that being too busy cuts happiness might lead to the answer that more free time is simply better. Surprisingly, having a lot of free time is not a panacea for happiness, according to the research. People surely get a certain sense of joy from finishing tasks. So having more than five hours of free time a day sometimes makes us lose the sense of achievement and joy.
I think it is how we spend our free time that matters. When free time is used in more active ways, like playing a team sport, then five or more hours a day can keep or even increase happiness.
However, spending five or more hours of free time doing nothing can stop happiness. 1.What may make people feel bored during the vacation

3.What does the underlined word“panacea” in the fourth paragraph probably mean

C. An unexpected surprise. D. Ways of enjoying free time.
5.What is the best title for the text
A. What should our vacation be like
B. Why do we need more free time

D. How much free time do we need to be happy

For a long time, scientists believed that only humans were left-handed or right-handed. 1 Just like humans, animals favor one side or the other.
In Ireland, scientists studied a group of 42 cats. They gave them three tasks. 2 They found that the male cats prefer to use their left paw(爪),while the female cats prefer to use their right paw.
3 It can include eyes, ears, paws, and even tails. In Italy, scientists discovered that dogs wag their tails to the right when they see something that they like. When they see something that they don't like, their tails go to the left.
Many people believe that polar bears are left- handed. They say they cover their black nose with their right paw, which helps them hide in the snow when they are hunting. Then they can sneak up on( 悄 悄 走 近 )a seal, and their left paw will be free to catch it. Scientists, however, disagree. Some have watched polar bears for thousands of hours. They never saw the bears cover their nose during a hunt. 4 Without taking any notice of this, many websites continue to say that polar bears are left- handed.
5 The next time you see an animal, whether it's your pet cat or an elephant, try figuring out which it prefers—left or right.
A. They want to find out which catches the most mice. B. One was to get a piece of delicious fish out of a bottle. C.They also saw no evidence(证据) that they were left-handed. D. However.recent studies have shown that this isn't true. E. Scientists are still learning about animals and their behaviors.
F. Being left-handed or right-handed isn't limited(限定)to arms and legs.
