When Alfred the horse arrives with a brightly painted caravan(大篷车), Toad, Rat and Mole jump into a seat at the front of the caravan. “Forget boats and the river. Mole. Travel the world in a caravan. Come on my travels with me. This is the way to travel,” Toad says. “Moving slowly through the countryside, enjoying the scenery.”
Suddenly, they hear “Toot! Toot!” and see a car coming toward them. Alfred has to quickly pull the caravan to the side of the road. Toad falls off the seat and into a bush. Mole and Rat almost fall off the seat, too, but they are able to hold on.
“Road hog!” Alfred shouts at the driver of the car.
Rat jumps off the caravan and runs to the bush. He bends over Toad.

“What do you mean ” Rat asks.
“Toot! Toot! It’s the sound that car makes.”
“ I know,” Rat says. “And it almost kills us.”
“Toot! Toot!” Toad says again.
“I think Toad has hurt his head,” Rat says to Mole.
“He’s not well. He’s making a noise like a car.” Then he says to Toad, “We’ll go to the police station and complain about the driver of the car.”
Toad sits up.
“Complain! Complain! We will not complain. That wonderful, beautiful car is the way to travel. Fast! Toot! Toot! I don’t want them. I’m going to get a car like that.”
After Mole and Rat listen to Toad, they take him back to his home.

The next day they set off again very early. They walk a few miles and then they come to a big ditch (沟). It’s very wide and very deep. There are a lot of sharp rocks at the bottom of it.
“How can we cross the ditch ” Dorothy asks her friends.
“We can’t fly over it,” the Scarecrow (稻草人) says. “And we can’t jump over it. So we must stay here.”

Later in the afternoon they come to a wide river. They can see a beautiful country on the other side of it. There are green fields and a lot of flowers. They can also see the yellow brick road.
“How can we cross the river ” Dorothy asks.
“Easy!” the Scarecrow replies. “The Tin Woodman can cut down some trees and build a raft (木筏). We can cross the river on that.”

Saturday, June l6th
In the morning, we went camping along a path in Green Natural Parks. We were happy because it was a sunny day. We were expecting an enjoyable two-day holiday. On the way, we kept singing and making jokes.
However, in the afternoon, when we finished our picnic at one o’clock, it was dark and windy. Soon, there was a shower. Unluckily, none of us brought an umbrella. We ran about but we could find no place to hide.
Twenty minutes passed and it was still raining. There were hours to go before we reached the campsite(野营地). It was even worse that our small compass(指南针)showed that we went the wrong way. We had lost our way!
We had to make a quick decision as it was raining heavily. Chris said we could put up a tent to hide in, so Mary and Tom helped to put up the tent. Chris and I tried to make a fire to keep us warm.
