Scafell Sky Race
Here's a trail run（越野跑） that is not suitable for beginners. With a total of 3,500 m of ascent（上坡路）, this is unquestionably one of the hardest events around. Good thing is that the views are beautiful, and that there's hot food and a bottle of apple juice waiting for you in the end.
Offa's Dyke 15
The traditional 15-mile distance begins at the Clock Tower in Hay-on-Wye and includes a few hard climbs before finishing in Kington. This year the hard event has added a challenging 10 km around Kington.

Our school owned a boat named Jolie Brise. It was one of the most famous tall ships in the world and three times winner of the Fastnet Race. The boat was unusual: especially for a remote grammar school in Wiltshire, about as far away from the sea as it can get in England. Obviously, such a site didn't match its fame.
Mr. Parish had originally intended to join the Royal Navy but ended up as a teacher at our school. Some pupils guessed that he still felt the call of the ocean---perhaps because his lessons were almost entirely devoted to navigation（航海）. They argued that it was deeply unfair to learn about navigation but never actually go to sea. Then Mr. Parish, seeing a bunch of young people prepared to crew the boat, allowed them to sail her in return for working on the boat. And that was the beginning of the school sailing club.
By the time I arrived, the sailing club had grown. At weekends, we would work on her all day, cleaning and painting her, and collapse into sleeping bags on the floor at night. Then came the big day when a school sailing trip was announced. Its destination was Saint-Malo. But it also meant that we had to refit the ship by removing every piece of ballast（压舱物） and replacing the bi l ge water（底舱污水） before we were allowed to sail.
And I did learn the ropes on that school trip. I learned how to operate a ship in the high waves. I learned the meaning of team work and became a better team player. In recent months, the U. S. media and politicians have launched fierce attacks on China's new energy industry, claiming that China has flooded the world with too many clean products, including solar power, new energy vehicles and lithium-ion batteries, which have lowered market prices and hurt American workers and factories. However, experts' data and analysis overturned the Western argument about overcapacity（产能过剩）.
Exports do not mean overcapacity. In a global economy with a high division of labor and specialization, it is normal for a country's productive capacity to go beyond its domestic demand. For example, about 80% of the cars produced in Germany are mercial aircraft giants Airbus and Boeing export most of their planes to other countries. While Chinese clean technology accounts for only a small fraction of China's exports, about 4.5 percent last year, far less than Germany. In fact, the Global Electric Vehicle Outlook, released last year, claimed that the global demand for new electric vehicles will reach 45 million units, which China's new energy products do not go beyond.
America's new energy industry falls behind due to underinvestment in green technology and infrastructure（基础设施）. Take wind energy for example. A recent report from the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) shows that the United States is struggling in its development of wind energy. Building a wind farm requires huge turbine blades（涡轮叶片） and a lot of custom engineering to produce huge towers and foundations, which makes wind energy difficult to trade between countries, so the supply chain needed to run a wind farm smoothly faces great trouble.
China is the only country with enough supply chains to keep wind energy growing without difficulties. Chinese Vice Finance Minister Liao Min said green technology products in China will help the country meet its carbon emission targets and contribute to the global response to climate change and green development.

White's Seahorse, also known as the Sydney Seahorse, is a species of fish that is native to the east coast of Australia. The species is named after John White, Surgeon General to the First Fleet, and is one of four species of seahorses known to occur in NSW waters. White's Seahorse became classified as endangered after it lost 90% of its population during the last decade.
Habitats that are considered important to the White's Seahorse include natural habitats such as sponge gardens, seagrass meadows and soft corals. The main cause for the reduction in the population of White's Seahorse is the loss of natural habitats across their range in eastern Australia. The seahorses occur within coastal areas which are easily affected by human population pressure. With tourists and locals crowding into these coastal areas, the sea water quality is worsening and more san d is building up along the coast.
To increase its population, Australian scientists are working on an interesting project. The first part involved collecting six pairs of adult seahorses from the wild and putting them in tanks for breeding（繁育）. In the wild they are known to live for up to six years and the breeding season is from September to around February. They display long-term devotion to their partners. Pairs of male and female White's Seahorses mate for life, and unlike most animals, the males are the ones that give birth. In this experiment, each male seahorse had between 50 and 150 babies. The second part of the project is to give the young seahorses ID tags（标签） and release them into special living environments in the wild. These "seahorse hotels" start as artificial homes. Then as algae（海藻） grow on them, they become natural ones for the seahorses.
The idea of seahorse hotels was inspired by thrown-away crab traps that had accidentally become habitats for other types of sea life, whose populations increased in them. Scientists can easily monitor the growing seahorse population with the ID tags. Seahorses use their tails to hold onto the frame of the hotel so they're not swept away by ocean's currents. Experiments of similar seahorse hotels are taking place in several other countries.

What's worth mentioning is that it uses game-like elements to make learning more engaging and enjoyable.
After using Duolingo for a while, I find it is such an incredibly useful tool that I'm willing to say learning English has become an indispensable part of my life. With varieties of exercises and the user-friendly interface, not only does it make my learning experience pleasurable and productive but also it deepens my insight into English learning.
If you're struggling to find a useful tool for English learning, Duolingo is definitely worth a try. I'm firmly convinced that you'll love it as much as I do.

M: Do you think your school could be the greenest school in the country If so, the IC Bus Company wants to hear about it. The company has started a nationwide competition to find America's most eco-friendly school, and they need everyone's help.
Students, parents and teachers from around the country are invited to present a 500-word essay on thesubject. The essay explains the actions that their schools have taken to help protect the planet, such as organizing an in-school recycling program, planting a garden and even turning off the lights in an empty classroom. These are all ways in which you and your classmates can be green.
The organizers hope that the competition will encourage children and adults to think about how they can help save the earth. The winning school will also receive a hybrid school bus from IC Bus and some money for school materials. The bus creates less pollution than ordinary cars and buses.
