Module10 Unit2 It seemed that they were speaking to me in person.
1.Lesson type : Reading & Writing
2.Teaching aims:
1> Knowledge aims: key words and key structures about radio and experiences.
2>Ability aims: To understand the sequence of events and behaviors of characters .
To be able to describe important events in the past and give background information.
Emotion aim: To establish a suitable awareness of jobs and be determined to work hard for the dream job.
Key and difficult points:
To be able to understand the sequence of an important event and learn to write an event in an indirect way.
Teaching procedure:
Step 1. Warm up and lead in
Show the picture of Unit 2 , teach some related words( presenter/ microphone/ a radio station)
Step 2.Before reading
Prediction: What will the passage talk about
(Ask students to think about the question with the picture and the title of the passage.)
Step 3: Fast- reading
How many paragraphs are there in the passage
Divide the passage into three parts according to the main ideas:
The writer met the radio manager
The writer’s experiences and interest of radio
The writer did a sound check and got his job in radio
Step 4: Careful-reading
Read Part 1(P1-P3) and answer:
Q1: Where are they
At the classroom B. At the company C. At a radio studio
Q2: How old was he when the writer first met the radio manager
Q3: How did the manager feel How do you know
Read Part 2(P4-P6) ,find all the phrases about “time”.
Fill in the table about the things in different times.

Read Part 3(P7-P12), answer :

Conclude the structure of the passage :
Part 1+Part 3 interview
Part 2 background information
What does the passage talk about (according to the picture and the title)
A. A book about the history of radio.
B. The life story of a famous radio presenter
C. A book on how radio works.
Step 5 : Post-reading
Retell the passage according to the outline of the passage.
What should we do to realise (实现) our dream
Step 6. Homework
Read the passage frequently, try to retell the story with pictures.
Write a short story about an event in the past with the information :
Bernard is one of a successful presenters now. John is the school radio presenter, John is interviewing Bernard.
At fifteen years old started to present music shows
At seventeen years old became the youngest presenter of a teenage radio show
Since four years ago worked for a national radio station
