听下面一段独白,回答第 11至第15四个小题。
My favorite novel is Edie and the Box of Flits. It is a great novel which was written by Kate Wilkinson. It tells us a story about an eleven-year-old girl Edie Winter and a magic box she discovers. Edie’s father works in the London Underground Lost Property Office and she likes going there. One day, on her way there, she finds a box. The box is home to some tiny people with wings. Only people under thirteen can see them. They need the girl’s help because their brother Jot has run away. Edie agrees to help them and begins her trip into a strange world.
Edie and the Box of Flits is a great book. It’s more than a magic novel. It helps us think more about friendship and our family, and notice the little things in life. I think everyone can learn something meaningful from it.

Hello, everyone! I’d like to tell you something about the show “Working the Waste into Magic”.
A number of creative works were on show, including clothes made from waste paper and mode, planes made of used wood and glass. Another fascinating work is a chair that is made of plastic bottles. They are glued together and painted in different colors.
I was most interested in a backpack for computers. It is made out of a pair of old jeans! With the zipper of jeans on the top, two pockets on two sides, the backpack looks both useful and fashionable. It even has a logo!
I felt amazed at how waste could be put to such good use. It really helps to save energy and build a greener future.

Students usually go to school in different ways. In our school, most students get to school between7:30 and 8:00 in the morning. Some arrive on foot, and some take the bus. However, eighty percent of the students arrive in their parents’ cars. The entrance (入口) to the school is crowded and dangerous. I think cars are the main problem. I think there are a few things we can do.
First, we should encourage students to take the bus or walk to school. Taking the bus can help cut down air pollution. Walking is healthier, too. Next, what should parents do if their children have to come to school by car I think their parents should park their cars far away from the school entrance. For example, they can park their cars at the end of the street. Finally, in my opinion, when parents park dangerously in front of the school entrance, they will be punished and have to pay some money — a fine. This way, they will be cautious and think twice before parking.
In a word, cars are making it dangerous for students to enter the school safely. Therefore, encouraging students to walk to school, or asking parents to park away from the school gate could solve this problem.
38. How do most of the students go to school according to the text
A. On the bike. B. On the bus. C. on foot. D. In the car.
39. What does the underlined word “cautious” in the second paragraph mean
A. Thankful. B. Helpful. C. Careful. D. Different.
40. How many suggestions are mentioned in Paragraph 2
A. 2. B. 3. C. 4. D.5.
41. What does the text mainly tell us
A. How to solve the traffic problem at the school entrance.
B. What makes students going to school more dangerous.
C. How to encourage students to go to school on foot.
D. When students get to and leave school every day.

①The scientific method is used for simple experiments that students may do in the classroom or very difficult experiments that scientists are doing all over the world. It is a way of thinking that helps you to avoid drawing incorrect conclusions (结论). There are usually four steps in the scientific method, including observation (观察), hypothesis(假设), experiment, and conclusion.
②The steps may not always be completed in the same order, but the first step is usually observation and asking a question about your observation. For example, you had a sick stomach, and ate a candy bar. An hour later, you observed that you felt much better. Here, you can ask a question, such as, “What makes a sick stomach feel better ”
③The second step is to state a possible answer to the question, or a hypothesis, such as “ ▲ ” A good hypothesis includes three things: The explanation for the observations, it is able to be tested, and it will usually predict new results or conclusions.
④The third step is the experiment, to test the hypothesis. An experiment is a test which will either challenge or support the hypothesis. The hypothesis will then be true or false.
⑤The final step is to think about what happened when you tested the hypothesis and draw a conclusion. The conclusion will either clearly support the hypothesis or it will not. If the results support the hypothesis, a conclusion can be written and you can share it with the rest of the world. If it does not support the hypothesis, you may choose to change the hypothesis or write a new one based on what was learned during the experiment.
42. How does the writer make us better understand the first step in Paragraph 2
A. By comparing the differences between the steps.
B. By giving an example of asking a question.
C. By asking some questions about the step.
D. By presenting the questions during the experiment.
43. Which sentence can be put into “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 3
A. A candy bar makes a sick stomach feel better.
B. It is the medicine that makes you feel better.
C. Eat a candy bar again, and see what happens.
D. Ask people if eating a candy bar makes them feel better.
44. What does the underlined word “it” in the last paragraph refer to
A. The hypothesis. B. The conclusion. C The question. D. The observation.
45. What’s the structure of the text
A. B. C. D.
