It might sound like magic, but in February, a paralyzed(瘫痪的) patient was able to drink water on his own. This was a success in Brain-Computer Interface(BCI,脑机接口)technology made by a team of Chinese scientists and doc-tors.
BCI works like a bridge—it connects the brain to a com-puter. For paralyzed people, BCI can allow them to move and do simple things by themselves.
The Chinese team is not alone. On January 30th, US tech talent Elon Musk shared that his company had implanted(植入)a chip in a human’s brain for the first time. The coin-sized brain chip was easily put in the patient's brain by a robot. It closely collects the brain's signals(信号) and sends them to the computer. And the paralyzed patient can do something like playing online chess just by thinking.
Musk also wants to implant chips into healthy people's brains so humans can keep up with AI. That's the final aim of his BCI company, Neuralink.
Though BCI technology is still in its early stage, it may be a great benefit for hu-mans. It could solve brain-related problems, such as blindness, and help with diseases like Parkinson's.
There are also ethical concerns(伦理问题). Some worry that this technology could al-low others to get people's thoughts, feelings, etc. Nothing but time can answer these questions.
